PS3 Can Actually Exceed 360 in sales by end of this YEAR!!!

I was thinking about it, and after looking back at this year's NPD numbers I just realized that the PS3 was outselling the 360 for the months that the 80 GB was still on shelves.. And just think, that same 80 GB that was outselling the 360 didnt even have MGS4 nor a Dualshock 3 . with not any great games coming for the 360 until late this year, its very very possible that the PS3 can overtake the 360 in worldwide sales by the end of this year especially considering how MGS4 will move A LOT of consoles in Japan.

I also think Sony will cut the price of the PS3 by $100.00 this holiday season putting the 40 GB at $299.99 and the 80 GB MGS4 bundle at $399.99 and if that happens not to mention all the other great titles to come for the the PS3 this year, i honestly see the PS3 overtaking or atleast matching consoles sold worldwide by the end of this year!! Now grant it the 360 might get a $50.00 price cut which would make it evenly priced with the PS3 if sony cuts by $100.00 and also Gears of war 2 will be a big seller but i really think this time it will be Japan that helps put it over the top with MGS4 expected to sell a lot of consoles over there!!

And if Sony doesn't cut the price that much? And if the "great gameson the horizon" like LBP, Killzone 2, Resistance 2 or Motostorm 2 aren't as good as expected? (Remember, the first ones weren't)

Even if that happens, the Ps 3 must outsell the 360by almost 97000 units pro week, what's is very, very unlikely.

MGS4 isn't going to do a lot of damage in Japan anyway ...... just a nice little spike in sales for a few weeks. They won't start coming on board with the ps3 until the bigger rpgs hit.

Wii was always going to outsell 360 in a short period of time. Lower price and 10x more demand. PS3 is slightly mroe expensive and gloabally slightly more in demand..but that's not enough. Plus looking at software releases....very very unlikely PS3 will overtake 360 this year. Maybe in 09, but by the end of the gen there will be 5-10 million in difference between PS3 and 360. And Microsoft wouldn't mind being otusold by 5-10 million considering Xbox was outsold by almost 100 Million units.

My predictions till end of 2010

Wii 72 Million

360 35 Million

Ps3 - 40 Million

I do see MGS4 helping a lot in Japan but the gap is still 5.85 million or something. With 7 months left until the end of the year, that means the PS3 will have to outsell the 360 by roughly 900,000 consoles a month. They can't both have more popular titles. It's one or the other, and at this moment, it's debatable. And before you say MGS4, unless you have a list of some 5 million confirmed presales, you should note that MGS is not the console mover you make it out to be.

But it's still a bear to program, no ifs, ands, or buts. Most of the multiplat devs still favor the 360, and if they don't like the 360, there's always the PC (which is the true king in most parts of the world, Europe included)--fortunately, the 360 and the PC are similar enough to reduce redundant effort.

But the PlayStation image is most definitely tarnished since it hasn't broken away from the pack the way it did the last two generations. In that fundamental sense, especially with the eighth generation looming, Microsoft has already scored a major win. Sony does not have the Midas touch.

Well I originally thought the same thing but looking at Sony's sell projections they only exspect to sell 10 million PS3s this year, ending March 31st 2009 which would put the PS3 at like 23 million worldwide. Unless something dramatic happens PS3 won't surpass the 360 this year.

(32months)(593,343units/month)=18,986,976 total units sold(360)

do you see how the 360 number is bigger that means the 360 has sold more consoles and are ahead in sales.

So with your numbers the 360 is ahead by 5,876,976 consoles sold, again with your numbers the PS3 is outselling the 360 by 62,157 consoles a month. So it would take the PS3 roughly 7 and a half years to tie in sales with the 360, assuming there is no change in your numbers.

Edit: I do think the PS3 will pass the 360 in sales in a couple years, I just wanted to see how this guys numbers would play out so I figured I would post it.
