PS3 & 360 Sales Comparison.

Well, what do you know.. Despite everyone trying to tell me that the PS3 is trailing 360 in sales, at the start of the year it was actually the other way around. I worked this out for my own gratification, but I thought I would share. I would like to see how it looks if I could get some more recent figures. Average sales per day since release: PS3 - 27,272 360 - 22,007 Well, how about that. the PS3 has sold on average 5,000 more consoles a day than the 360. Based on these figures. PS3 release date - 11/11/2006 360 release date - 22/11/2005 PS3 sales of 21.3 million by 31/12/2008 (781 days since release) 360 sales of 25 million by 01/01/2009 (1136 days since release) All these figures taken from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Console_wars#Worldwide_sales_figures_6-Malifor-

That's a nice statistic.

The PS3 is still trailing the 360 in sales, and lately, the gap isn't shrinking.

Those numbers would mean that the 360 has been killing the PS3 in sales lately... Current Sales figures-GeordiLaForge-

The PS3 is behind the 360 in sales, so that's the bottomline, yes, even though the 360 had a year headstart with no competition.

However, it's true that fanboy's try to do doom and gloom reports every day here, that's for sure.The PS3 is in last place, but that doesn't mean it's not selling, it obviously is.

minus the headstart of 360 maybe PS3 doesnt that far behind from 360.. and considered the fact that 360 already has price cuts and bring in their games like halo.. maybe a price cut and bundle with GT5can turn the table around who knows..

We like to pretend that all consoles were released on the exact same day.

2. Xbox 360 - 3.2 million
3. PlayStation 3 - 1.9 million

days since launch xbox- 1136, ps3- 781

xbox: 3,200,000/1136= 2816.9

ps3: 1,900,000/781= 2432.77

xbox has outsold ps3 on a average per day basis in europe? does this sound weird to anyone else?

EDIT 2: AHHH! those euro numbers are only for the UK! wikipedia is unreliable.

does wikis current worldwide numbers seem reliable to anyone? have we checked the sources for the worldwide numbers (ps3 21, xbox 25)?

it claims the INSTALLED BASE is over 25 million.

edit: this article also states that 7 million of those 25 million live in europe, which is way higher then the wiki euor number. all this is to proof the point that these numbers are all inaccurate and slanted, especially when yo compare shipped and sold through.

this is an article where sony says they sold 21 million up to this point. THEY DID. i am under the impression that all three console manufacturers state SHIPPED numbers (hence, units SONY SOLD to retailers). shipped doesnt equal sold through to consumers (unless your nintendo, ms and sony can't say this)

the TC is right PS3 is doing better day by day year by year than 360 that shows that people would rather have a system that cost $400 than the xbox that cost $199

the gap was 8 million from PS3 launch..........

if it's 6 million that has to be the worst selling first year for a console in history.

like i said before, we dont have a half year of ps3 sales during its greatest time so far, and this console has been out less then 3 years so 6 months is a big deal if were calculating rate.stylesPS3

It was not a great first year.

Funnily enough, the 360 started selling better once the PS3 came out.

It was on their fiscal year report. Fiscal year that ended March 31.
