The Vita has become reanimated.

"Undoubtedly the festive period will have played a factor,"
Yes. I imagine that explains most of the increase to be honest. I do know of a few people who grabbed one for remote play though and I may well do the same when I get round to picking up a PS4 as well.
Seems Sony have had to borrow ideas from the "doomed" Wii U with it's "terrible and pointless gamepad" to shift some Vitas at last.
In all honesty, it's taken them a generation to finally deliver on what they promised the PSP and the PS3 would do. I remember they did some tech demo at the Tokyo Game Show where they revealed whatever iteration of GT5 and showed the PSP being used as a controller and a rear-view mirror.
I don't think the PSP or the PS3 really handled the function very well, but the Vita being designed by Cerny clearly had PS4 in mind already and the PS4 has dedicated chips for the Vita cross-functionality.
IMHO, it makes sense to get a Vita with a PS4 simply because you're getting free games for it with the PS+ sub.
its a good handheld i took the plunge over the weekend and enjoying the games, i've actually not bought anything at retail and relied on PS+ to get myself going and enjoying the Uncharted game a hell of a lot.
It's the same as the PSP, its going to be a slow burner and its catalogues going to be mostly remembered for games at the tail end of its lifespan.
Also Gravity rush is an actual gem of a little game i've only had like 25min playing it but im enjoying it more than a few other games i've gotten my hands on the past couple of months.
I hope they do push it more at E3 now the PS4's launched i can see them really bringig the vita into the equation considering how the vita's being billed as a companion for the PS4 :P
So instead of selling 100 Vitas, they sold 163 Vitas. Congrats, Sony!
Well, it's a good thing you're a forum moderator and not a mathematician. Would have been 263 Vitas there.
Close enough! (Point being, percentages are meaningless without numbers)

Glad you cleared that up seeing as there was only selling 1 unit before this announcement according to your numbers. It's good to see that we have moderators like you that aren't a well of misinformation and trolling posts. ^_^
I'm one of them. I bought it early on because I thought it would be interesting to connect it to my ps4 and play games whilst me and my brother watched TV. I've spent 99% of the time so far playing vita games, there are quite a lot of good ones I enjoy. I've almost completed persona 4 golden and am planning a second playthrough. Have also played hotline miami on the go and spelunky on the go. It's a great handheld.
