"We tell our PlayStation fans all the time that what the Wii U is offering is something that Vita and PS3 can do quite easily," Koller said. A linked Vita and PS3 game, as demonstrated with LittleBigPlanet 2's upcoming cross-play functionality, offers a similar controller and touch experience with the added benefit of the Vita's external processing power. The Wii U's GamePad, on the other hand, streams its data from the console itself."

And I bet they're right.

Too bad they never think about this stuff from the get go. Watching Nintendo do it and then trying to throw it together way too late does nothing for them. Same with Move. This would be even worse though.

In order for that to work SOny you have to sell the Vitas first. Not too many people would want PS3 Vita combo. WHo wants to spend $250 on a controller when the Wii U comes pack with it!?!?! Plus the Gamepad does a lot more then just steam content to the controller

You need to waste literally $500 for that to happen. The combo won't match the WiiU's controller anyway.

If anything, this is more along the likes of GBA and GameCube, rather than Wii U.

That's the cost of two sets of components, OLED, etc. whereas the Wii U merely streams, the gamepad is just a plastic shell with a resistive screen.

Yes sensei. Some may choose to pay the price premium to gain access to Vita's extensive game library and the fact it is a standalone handheld. I myself will not, as I do not require a handheld for games.

I haven't forgotten. I guess I am lucky as I have two external hard discs sitting unused I could repurpose for the Wii U, so for me it is a $300USD console.

Even so, looks like the PS3 is as cheap as $235, Vita is $250 with the assassin's creed game (but is as cheap as $228.99), let's add the two smaller numbers together to get $463.99.

Wii U Basic set is known to be $300, but you're right that's not a fair comparison. We need a Pro controller as the PS3 package will include a DS3, that's $50, that PS3 I gave an example of before had 160 gigs of storage, so you're right still not fair let's add a hard drive to the Wii U, well, even if you went for 1TB you still get it for about $90USD. So that's $440 for a Wii U package.Less money than the PS3+Vita.

People are allowed to think that the PS Vita + PS3 is a better deal if they want to.

I've had an 8GB card with my Vita since launch. Having a 32GB card is nice but not required at all. Nice try though.

the problem with sony doing ps3-vita cross play is that it isn't standard. As long as it requires people to buy a vita no dev will support it seriously

imo, sony should troll the industry, embrace their reputation for unoriginal design, and just ape the WiiU for the ps4 design. Release a system with a tablet controller that supports Psmove and dualshock 3 controllers, all of which are standard with the system. Practice Vita cross play on the ps3, and make it so that the Vita can function as another tablet controller for the ps4. Of course, they could beef up the hardware and add additional features.

Plz, are people betting that 3rd party devs will actually take the Wii U serious? It will be Wii all over agin in the sense that 3rd party games will be gimped/half assed(which could be ported to PS3/Vita Xbox360/Smartglass) or something else. Nintendo will have to showcase the tablet.

True as well.

Just because Sony can do something doesn't mean they can do it successfully. The have all the technical know how they could ever need, but as a business they're just brain dead.

Its not just what you can do. Its how and when you choose to do it as well as how you market it.

They could have had Kinects success. They could have had the Wiis success. Going forward they could steal the WiiUs success. They just have bad timing and relatively speaking, terrible marketing.

So the PS Vita has been reduced to a game controller now has it? One would of thought it was it's own handheld console with exclusives but I guess Sony only cares about making a dumbed down PS3 out of the PS Vita. Which is exactly why I'll never get one.

I dont think they should relesae anythign with a tablet controller because

1. Nobody thinks its that special

2. Any game the Wii U uses on it can be applied the same way on a PS3/PS4 + vita

Ok, they thought about it. Will they capitalize on it? Did they put themselves in a realistic position to make it happen? Are they trying to introduce it as any sort of standard that both gamers and developers can embrace?

So you're right. They did think about it. And thats it.
