Just a thought. What would happen if the hardware in the 360 got progressively worse, would current and future developers choose other platforms for their games? It hasn't happened yet, and I hope it doesn't, but with all these problems with the 360 (red light thing mostly), it's looking like the 360 has some major issues to address. The warranty is nice, but doesn't fix the problem.

Yes it wouldn't surprise me if devs started moving to other platforms as a result of the 360's shady hardware. However, that doesn't mean that M$ can't fix the problem.

This makes me curious. What do the 360 dev kits look like? If they look anything like what end-users get, then are the dev kits just as prone to getting the red rings too?

Did I say they would?? No. It's a "What if" situation. Don't post if you don't understand the thread genius.

Didn't stop Gears from selling 4 million copies.

Since most decent well advertised games have sold over 1 million copies in their first year on the 360 I doubt developers are going to leave it.

If it hasn't happened by now, it's probably not going to happen. I don't see the hardware failure rate getting any worse then it already is and with the introduction of the 65 nm chips later this year, heat issues will be a thing of the past.

I don't think the PS2 was as bad as the X360.

I don't think the PS2 was as bad as the X360.

No one can confirm if either is worse than the other. But the point still stands that the PS2 had a considerable hardware failure rate, and that didn't stop the devs from pouring into it.

Devs will go where their games will sell.  If 360 hardware caused people not to buy it then yes.

No not unless gamers stop buying it. Fact is the console still has a current attach rate of 5-1. That is unheard of at that price point this long into the game, and the 360 has more then a basket full of million sellers.

I don't think it will get any worse anyways. With the 65nm xenos and xenon set to release this fall, in addition to improved heatsinks/heat pipes...it will get better before it ever got worse.

Well you don't see the PS3 dying. The developers want their catalogue of games to be played, not collecting dust after the console was busted.

*shakes head* You missed my point. You could have said the exact same thing last-gen with the Xbox. The original Xbox wasn't crapping DREs all over the place like the PS2 was, and yet they STILL poured to the latter console.

No, they will stick with the 360 because of sales.
