Sony should just leave the classic consoles to Nintendo

The problem is, there's nothing classic about PS1.

Anyway, the list doesn't matter though, it will get hacked. More interested in how many gigs are on the system.

Look how they all need to be remade in order to have some form of posterity.

Hopefully you'll be able to add a bigger collection to it like you can on the SNES classic and remove the games you don;t want and add the ones you do.

I mean it's cool for nostalgia sake, but that's not really a list of games I'm dying to play.

SNES just had lots of games that I'd still want to play to this day.

SNES mini was truly a dream list come true. Also those games look better than most PS1 titles.

We know that's wrong because it wrecked all its rivals. You know how many franchises Playstation consoles birthed? LOL, stupid comment.

Anyway. Save for five, this would have been a better list with Silent Hill, Tomb Raider, Wipeout, Ape Escape and Gran Turismo making the cut. I am really scratching my head at Cool Boarders 2.

Playstation 1 is the ultimate nightmare of sega and nintendo fans. It probably haunts them to this day...

That reminds me of how even in the beginning I'd own a SNES and Genesis and then all other consoles after that.

Nothing haunts me. Sony brought great things to gaming. PS1 games just have not aged well at all. Like, maybe One, metal gear solid.

Yikes that's...pretty...damn...bad.

Wow. I'm sort of amazed at this level of ignorance - all of a sudden graphics matter when talking about these old games.

Not long ago, I replayed Megaman Legends 2 on PS1 and it was still every bit as great as it was back when I first played it in 2001. The same goes for my recent playthrough of Resident Evil 2, which is still an amazing game and it's even better when you think about the fact that it released in 1998.

The problem with the Playstation Classic is that it doesn't have a great list of games. It doesn't even have Crash, Spyro, or Wipeout!

These classics are trash anyway. Like we need any more small computer boxes with limited functionality.

Just release retro game packs for modern consoles and save some room in the landfills 10-20 years from now.

Yeah I just watched the PS Classic trailer, and the game that still holds up best visually is Rayman. Thanks to its 2D graphics and art style.

Almost every 32 bit game aged badly, it's the way it is. But it's also easy to adjust after a small period imo.

But a lot of games aged well by using trics like pre-rendered graphics and such.

Terrible list, terrible price.

All mini consoles are garbage and simply just cash grabs.

This is the problem overall with these classic consoles. They could simply release these games in a collection for PC or current gen consoles and it would be fine. No need for another box to hook up to your TV.

PS1 was always known for having very good, "odd" games so to speak so really no surprise here most of yall thinking this is trash.

I've played Cool Boarders, Metal Gear Solid, Rayman, FF7, Rainbow Six, and Twisted Metal and they were all pretty good back in the day.

Damn was really hoping for Resident Evil 2 and Symphony of the Night

I think people are mainly upset because this thing costs 100 bucks and doesn't have a big enough list of classics to justify the price. I actually like a lot of the games on the list, but I am still kind of shocked to see that at least one Crash and Spyro game didn't make it to list. Also no Wipeout

I was expecting Megaman Legends/2 to be included and what a total waste! I would've gladly pay for this if it had Megaman Legends. And also, no Dino Crisis either? Damn it :(

I'm sorry but this is a sad list of PS1 classic games.

Crash & Spyro have their own current-gen trilogy games, was anyone expecting those games on PS1? Come on!

Yeah this is definitely no longer a day 1 buy- maybe a never buy.

Sure these games are ok but when you think about all of the legendary games they could've put on the system...this is a very weird picking.

No silent hill, no crash team racing, no medieval, no gran tursimo, no tony hawk, ....

There's an okay line-up there but I would rather wait for Sony to catch up doing BC possibly on next system, or just buy a PS3 and take advantage of their extensive BC catalog and cheap priced digital games for PS1/PS2 classics.

Yeah that list is kind of disappointing to be honest. The ones that I like on there are:

- Final Fantasy VII

- Metal Gear Solid

- Resident Evil: Director’s Cut

- Revelations: Persona

- Ridge Racer Type 4

- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo

- Tekken 3

- Wild Arms

The rest are throwaways and there were many others that would have been much better choices to put on there. I’ll probably get one myself though.

Is the list as good as it could have been, no. Is it garbage like so many trolls are say, also no. You can't say its complete garbage when you have some truly amazing games on the list like MGS, RE, Tekken 3, FF7, etc.

There are some games I would look forward to playing on this. The only one I would spend money on is tekken 3.

I don't think the list is that bad at all. People have to remember, games like THPS would be a nightmare to license. Then other things like Crash and Spyro don't belong to Sony.

I LOVED Battle Arena Toshinden and Cool Boarders 2. Some of the others are cool too. I don't think $100 for a mini PS with some great games is asking too much.

Sony could either make PS5 backwards compatible or release a digital classic collection.

It is not garbage. At all. Most of those games I've played and loved with the exception of Jumping Flash and Cool Boarders 2. Is it disappointing? Sure. Garbage? Hardly. Stop with your hyperbole.

Hey, I wouldn't say that's a particularly bad list at all. And that's coming from a Nintendo fangirl. Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Sython Filter, Tekken 3... all good stuff.

That's actually a pretty good list. Those are some really great games. The price is too high, but the game list is good.

It's a good list, but I agree with some there are some major games that are missing that should be in it.

No Wipeout, GT, or Midevil? These are Sony franchises so it shouldn't be hard to get these in there.

Spyro, Crash, and Castlevania have all had re-releases/remakes this gen, so of course they aren't in, plus they aren't owned by Sony. I'll forgive it, but damn at least SNES classic had Castlevania 4

Its an ok list. The problem is too many games cant please everyone on a selected list.

@X_CAPCOM_X: number was made by UEP systems if remember right, I'm sure number 3 onwards where made by 343 studios and where crap. I'd love to see a reboot of such a game (loved ssx tricky too)

Weirdly I owned a big chunk of that list on the psx. Great games for their time. I'd probably play puzzle fighter and perhaps ff7 again out that list! Where are games like Krazy Ivan ? Seems Sony relied upon 3rd party to prop up their numbers of quality games.

Wild Arms and IQ make it a buy for me. I think it's time to go through the Wild Arms series again.
