PC Version of GTA IV vs Console Version of GTA V

Does the console version of GTA V look at least as good as the PC version of GTA IV? The following screen captures were taken with the game running at 1920 x 1080 with the settings as depicted in the final screen capture. Disregard the warning, as it is just a glitch in the PC version of the game that occurs when it's being rendered by video cards with more than 1GB of VRAM (mine has 3GB of GDDR5). 

I've yet to play GTA V in person as it is not available on PC (yet) and I don't have the current generation systems anymore.

Yeah, the PC version of GTA 4 holds up really well. It is still, however, GTA 4 and not GTA 5. It being shinier cannot change that fact.charizard1605

On another note, if anyone can, please post screen captures of GTA V.

My computer runs GTA4 like shit and I have a 460. I can't put up with bad framerates so the game looks pretty bad on my computer.

Oh and honestly those pictures look pretty bad. I think GTA4 is a pretty bad looking game, even when I put the settings up high to see what it looked like. I think Saints Row 2 or 3 looks better honestly.

From a gameplay side it's much better but if the only thing you like is graghics then keep om hating.

That's surprising. Based on the gameplay walkthrough videos I've seen of GTA V, courtesy of theRadBrad (Youtube), GTA V looks more fun than GTA IV in regard to gameplay. GTA IV is just a series of assasination missions with a few bank roberries thrown in. It's very boring. I only play it because of the free-roam style of gameplay, the large environment, and the graphics.

You or I (50-50%) have misread. GTA5 is better in every way gameplay wise.

I like the colour palette in GTA V way more.  Just like vice city, V has much more vibrance and overall looks more happy and interesting.  IV and san andreas had way too much green.

Textures are noticeably better in V even being on console versions.  The roads clearly show what their materials are like rough or paved concrete and stuff.  So are the bricks on walls, sand in the desert, etc.  Super sharp on ps3. :)

Animations and physics I would imagine are going to be the same across all platforms.

GTA4 looks ugly modded or not. 5 is vastly superior.

IV on PC still looks worse than V on consoles. IV hasn't aged well graphically, you need to get ENBs to make it look good.princeofshapeir

I personally think IV looks great on PC. Anyhow, I'll look into getting the ENB mods.

GTA IV is a straight up ugly, ugly game no matter what platform it is played on.

V looks and plays better. It's an infinetly better game.

TC, you might as well buy a PS3 now and play it. Might now be on PC for 6+ months

4 only looks good modded

I have played alot of GTA IV with graphics mods on PC, which is a must if you are playing GTA IV on PC. The game looks butt ugly without them. Though the engine itself is poorly optimized for PC and have alot of bugs.

The improvements done from GTA IV to GTA V is very impressive considering the hardware it is running on. Not only have they improved the graphics and longer draw distance, but they have also improved the car handling, physics, and animation. They have added tons of small details aswell that most people don't notice or don't see as a hard thing to do. Like when the character get wet, and only up to where he should get wet. There are tons of these small details that most devs don't prioritize.

DO IT. Assuming your PC is powerful enough to run the game with the right mods (edit: just looked at your sig. If ANYONE can run any given mod, I'm sure you can), it CAN be absolutely gorgeous. Gotta be careful, though. There are several ENBs out there that look great in screenshots, under certain conditions, but are inconsistent, and look much worse in motion. That said, there are also quite a few that look simply amazing, all the time. Combine that with some real life car model replacements, which are not only cool because they're real life cars, but are also usually much, much higher quality/more detailed than the vanilla cars. Throw in some enhanced weapon models (plus enhanced weapon sounds), custom clothes for Niko, and one of those mods that makes the explosions bigger and more badass, and it's like a whole new game (visually, at least).

Did you check this thread before dabbling with something you're inexperienced with? Here's a tutorial explaining everything concievable about it, including how to modify it to suit your pleasure.

Why didn't you ask BenBuja or other people that succesfully added ICEnhancer for some advice before adding the ICEnhancer mod, or check some good config. that might appeal to you? For example, a lot of people messed up modding Deus Ex, and wen i answered and meticulously explained their problem, and their solution, they were happy with the result because they managed to fix their situation with help. And why didn't you make a backup beforehand? That's modding 101.

You don't just jump head on in something you obviously have no experience with, without a little research before hand. In no field does anyone do that, it makes no logical sense.

GTA 4 is still a vastly inferior game to GTA 5 no matter how many mods you add to 4.

Im expecting it to arrive the same time as PS4/XBONE version TBH. Hopefully it will come sooner but I doubt it.

Im expecting it to arrive the same time as PS4/XBONE version TBH. Hopefully it will come sooner but I doubt it.

I'm sure it'll look amazing on PC; it'll be sharper, have better AA, and much better frame rates. Can't wait. I remember when I had GTAIV for PS3; it looked so much worse than the PC version.
