Sweet, glad I preordered it! Never played the original. Will you be checking out Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door on Switch, SW?

You could say I moved on from Nintendo, but I seem to give them another shot every now and again when a new console comes out, hoping that it'll recapture my interest as it did when I was growing up. Sadly, I've been let down every time. I have yet to find one Nintendo game out of their many consoles since the Wii, that I actually sunk hours into. :(
Very nice. Loved the original and will definitely be grabbing this on day one.
The physical copies have been selling out! Hurry up!
@SolidGame_basic: You mean I can actually purchase games through this series of tubes called the, “Internet”? How utterly fascinating!

Yup, you’re actually using the internet as we speak!
The remake looks really solid. Only real flaw I can find is that it is locked at 30 fps.

Do you mean about this?
Paper Mario TTYD localizers made Vivian trans.

She was originally a cross-dresser, or femboy, in the original Japanese. Not trans.
We have such a problem with kids being forced into gender assignment before they are consenting adults that this doesn't belong in a kid's game by… pic.twitter.com/Qx1cGpdu0S

Yup, didnt want to mention it directly, because it could be seen as spoiler territory.
But honestly, this game looks really solid, with a lot of QoL improvements, I am seriously considering getting it myself. Depending on my plans for next month.
Can't wait, bring on tomorrow!
I got a delivery notification that it delivered early! Woot for online shopping!

Who is that person? Who? Can't think of anyone, but i forced myself not to mention that other game.
Nintendo Switch change this game from the original to be woke - go woke go broke!!
Can we keep the culture wars nonsense out of System Wars? Just keep it to the Off-Topic forum where it belongs since Political Gamers no longer exists.
@onesiphorus: Seems like the same type of user who would go around saying "keep politics out of it" out of the other side of their mouth but doesn't see the hypocrisy 😒 (eoten is that you?)
Back on topic, I am glad a new generation gets to play it but I'm OK with my original version. If this was a 3DS version that used the 3D screen, or if it supported 3D TVs, then I would be more interested. It seems like the type of game that would look cool that way.
I wonder if they'll bring back Super Paper Mario, that game was very cool.
I played the original Gamecube version and It's not my cup of tea. Still, I am happy for sheep. Enjoy!
@hardwenzen A certain cow. Won't name them, but it is not you. You are a hermit in denial, and it is only a matter of time till you start playing all the ant games I like. Then you will replace your graphics card with a 1070, after that you end your RPG addiction and stick to mostly strategy games and indie games, shortly after you will start delving into Paradox Interactive's library.
After this, you will finally realize that graphics arent that important, and you will get Nintendo's next console, and buy Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door with it, assumign it is backwards compatitable. And your transformation will be complete!
You will love the thousand year door's remaster too! Appreciate its QoL features, new content and other improvements.
Not surprised; Thousand Year Door is on the list of greatest Nintendo games ever made.
A true classic. Intelligent Systems really brought in their A game in the gamecube days. Whether it was Path of Radiance, Advance Wars or Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, everything they made was a complete banger. As good as Origami King and Three Houses are this gen, they were more consistant back then.
You know somethings suss when they praise the story of a Mario game.
On a side note I see Nintendo are milking the sheep with remakes now.
The original Thousand Year Door was praised for its narrative as well.
Origami King could have had a great narrative, if Nintendo didn't clamp down on any attempts at World Building. When Intelligent Systems were allowed to tell something, they did a phenomenal job. TTYD was made before Miyamoto said no to any attempts at world building.
@Maroxad: Let me re-iterate, you know something suss when they start praising the story in a Mario game.
The Thousand Year Door's story was praised back then too. So the praise here is nothing new.
So, it was suss back then as it is now. Nothing has changed.
And this reception is going to be questioned as soon as Digital Foundry makes their video. Not because of one of them already expressing disappointment that the Switch version has lower framerate than the GCN version, but the internet's tendency to blow a DF video out of proportion, given DF's history of defending some games with uneven framerate.
So, it was suss back then as it is now. Nothing has changed.
Did you play the game? Or did you see the actual dialogue?
It doesnt explore anything particularly original or indepth. But the writing and dialogue is nonetheless very well executed. The cast was likeable enough too.
