OOT isn't all that great

Yeah yeah it got a 97-99 on gamerankings and metacritic. You wanna know why? Because it only got 22 freakin reviews. A number of games would've got 100s by now if there was as few journalists on the gaming scene today as there was back then, so please stop saying things to make it seem like its the holy grail of gaming. Technically, RE4 is the highest rated game ever, it manages 95-96 with almost 100 reviews. So people please stop comparing everything to OOT, its just Nostalgia. Try playing the game today, it didn't age well at all.

No game is perfect, but its one game that has consistently ended up in every single top ten games of all time lists.

I agree (probably because my friend kept telling me how great it was and when I finally played It... I didn't like it, even though I finished it). Personally, I liked a link to the past and wind waker (although they should have upped the difficulty to make it a far better game) alot more.

I never played it until a year ago and still see why it's the best game of all time. The graphics were amazing, the combat system was revolutionary and the story and atmosphere were amazing.

I like Majora's Mask and a Link to the Past better.

Just because the game has a small number of reviews doesn't mean that it isn't as great as everyone says it is.

the nostalgia comment is so overused.

you could argue that takken is only good becouse of the nostalgia,

and those 12 year olds who played halo back in 2001 have also grown up in those 8 years.

so the nostalgia comment can basicly be used on almost any old game.

just becouse some people didnt start gameing with the NES

Sped more time in SW and you'll realize that quite a few people get their enjoyment from starting threads like this and watching the mayhem.

You may not like OOT all that much, and that's your opinion. Remember that in 1996 there weren't dozens of websites out there reviewing games. It was magazines mostly then. And many of the websites that review today aren't the most reliable.

OOT is still worth playing even after this much time and that speaks more for the game than any score.

It's not fair to judge a game that we played over 10 years ago to a game released today..... standards change...... of course if the exact same game released today, people would be mortified by how ugly it is.

OOT was a great game, as far as games from the past go, itwas one of the GREATEST!.... actually if OOT was remade with today's visuals, I'd dare say it would still score a 9.5.

I don't want to repeat all the great things bout the game.

But I must say this, there is not a game that came close to the lvl of atmosphere that is present inthe Ocarina of Time.

Atmosphere wise, ICO can be considered as a runner up, yet most people don' even know the games existance.

Actually, the gameplay holds up quite well today and its still an amazing game

I see the TC is having a hard time dealing with the fact that Zelda: OoT may be the best game ever made. Get over it.

even if it had 100 reviews...at that time everyone loved and was amazed with that game and it would have received 95%+ by just about all those 100 reviews...so it wouldn't change anything TC

I played the game the other month. It's aged very well, the gameplay is still awesome, and it's one of my favourite games ever.

Maybe it's because I just played it this year while borrowing it from a friend. Maybe it's because I played TP before it. Maybe it's because I already knew the story. Maybe it's a mix. But I didn't really find myself in awe while playing OoT.

Now don't get me wrong, I didn't see anything really wrong with it (except for the long loading times for the pause menu :x:P), and it didn't feel like a chore, like I was forced to play it. I guess I'd understand more if I had played it while it was new.
