Omfg! FF7 Remake PS3 Exclusive...(Rumour)

ok i have made two previous threads before saying that square enix had a major announcement to do with ff7. and i also stated that it would indeed be a remake....

read it and weep ppl! seems like some dude from playstation/sony or whatever has said that ff7 remake is in fact in the works for ps3 exclusively while the original untouched version of ff7 will be available on both the psn and xbl!

if this is true then i will lose all my interest in ff13 and i will be getting this instead. :D

i guess it makes sense for square enix to deny the rumours of ff7 remake if they are indeed waiting till their game event or tgs to announce something. i seriously hope this is it!

What little faith I have in SE will vanish the instant this becomes official. I will not respect a company which has over 75% (literally) of its products comprising of ports, remakes, and rereleases.Verge_6

Yeah for real... not that I think there is anything really wrong with remakes, but it seems like a new Final Fantasy comes out every 4 months but then you realize it's a remake of one of the old FFs.

They milk the franchise, but there isnt anything wrong with that as long as people still love them. As for me, I have zero interest.

i do see your point dont get me wrong. but i have played ff7 but never really got past the 1st cd. so for someone like me this is a very good poourtunity to pick up where i left off from but this time i wont get put off by annoying blocky graphics.

obviously i would like to see brand new ip's from squarenix but for me this is fine for now

I think he makes a good point. I say let the Xbox users bask in the magnificent glory that is final fantasy 7. And then maybe in the "distant" future if its popular on the xbox, I suppose they cud have the remake :P

Actually im not really bothered either way as long as theres a chance of a remake. THat would be the best, but as others have said, I'll believe it when I see it :D

thats fine and anyway ppl always claim graphics is as important as gameplay so how can ppl enjoy the original ff7 after playing gears of war, mass effect etc the game will look like sh*t.

If they have the original FF7 to XBLA, they'll probably have the FF7 remake on the 360. They'll make more money off of it.

I have mixed feelings about it, one part of me really wants a remake, but another wants to stay away from a remake because it may ruin Final Fantasy VII.

Anyways, i'm guessing FFXII is Nov 2009 at the earliest. This remake will likely be 2010 at the earliest.

I just posted this in another thread, but the latest 1up podcast also hinted that this upcoming announcement would favour the PS3 and somehow be FF7 related. Although they made it sound more Advent Children related than a remake. I guess we will see.

A remake on Playstation 3 would cost the company tens of millions of dollars. Everything would have to be redone (except for the story, of course) and Square would have to add features and content to the game in order to satisfy the fans who are looking for a bit more than just a graphic fidelity upgrade.

If it makes business sense for Square Enix, then they will do it. The game originally came out to Playstation, but it still may get the multi-plat treatment because of its huge popularity outside of Japan as well. If the install base for Xbox 360 remains strong outside of Japan, it may come to that.

i seriously doubt that sony will let ff7 get away. it is the most popular ff game ever and was launched on the ps1.

if i was sony i wouldnt care if the original went to the rival platform but a full fledged remake i would pounce on it like a hungry hyean and enusre it stays exclusive.

did ppl not hear the podcast also? the dude states, 'ff13 on xbox360 swung the ball on ms side, at the squenix event they will swing the ball back to the sony side' and that is related to the major ff7 announcement.

it dont take a genious to work out that sony is obviously getting some kind of ff7 game whether it is a remake or a new spin-off or sequel or whatever.

And they also said that it could be a FF7 remake because SE has stated that the whole FF7 story has now been told with all the spin-offs and movies already out.
