Mario will be there by the end of the year, easy.

Poor poor Metroid.

Edit:  Shoot, Mario may already be at 200million.

He might already be on 200 million but when Super Paper Mario comes out in Europe it will be over 200 million in sales and if not Super Mario Galaxy will easily get it over 200 million Mario games in sales. The man is a legend.

With Mario Party 8 and Super Paper Mario out in the US and Mario Strikers Charged in Europe he must be over 200 million now because lots of people know Mario games sell.

It makes an average of 2 million per game which is pretty solid if you ask me. And the fact that mario has been here since ages makes it normal to have over 100 games... well yeah... maybe 100 is huge but still Mario is huge also.

It is quite impressive, but I think a lot of crap came between the real big titles. Don't forget that Super Mario Bros sold 40million.

Super Mario Bros is the biggest seller but Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros 3 had big sales as did Super Mario 64. Anything with Mario will sell because everybody knows who he is.

NSMB is knocking on the door of 10 million copies globally.  SMG is going to be a megahit.

I think I'm about to add to the Mario count. I still don't have the new Super Mario Brothers for my DS.

Buy? Yes?

Meh.  It didn't grab me much.  It feels different than I remember SMB feeling back in the day.

If you were talking about New Super Mario Bros... then that's the point! It is suppoesd to be new. :P

They took gameplay elements from almost every major Mario game. I have picked up on stuff from SMB, SMB3, SMW and SM64 as well as many new things that are quite refreshing. :)

And I also think Super Mario Bros. 3 sold alot but that might include the Remakes because I thought that sold 130 million so that must be including Remakes.

Mario is the best thats why there are so many titles featuring him. You could put him in any spin off title or any game basically and it will sell because it's Mario.

I'm looking at that list and I played a game from each of the top 20 except for Lineage that is the only game on that list I didn't play a game from that series atleast I don't think but everyone else I played a game on that list atleast one in the Series but most of them I played atleast three in the series. Also Halo isn't on that list.

I beg to differ.  The success is because the Mario games have seen a consistent level of quality.

Nod.  I didn't get very far (roommate's game).  Mayhaps I'll give it another try.

World 6 has some pretty compelling stuff with wall-jumping, IIRC.

You're both correct.  It's a feedback loop.
