The name of the game is Voez, and if it only uses touchscreen, that means it can't be played on TV.
Is this a good idea or a bad idea? Does this cement the Switch's place as a handheld? What say you, System Warriors?

Its a hybrid console. I'm still expecting Pokemon Stars to fall somewhere in the middle of being a handheld game and a true HD home console game.
Touch screen or motion control only games will be completely ignored by me.
We got a badass over here.

Well it does have a touch screen. And after the Wii U I am glad Nintendo dumped the "second screen" nonsense. I'm sure some games will perhaps require you to play both in hand held and docked mode. With the switch many great things are possible.
Not my thing, I might be interested in the Switch later on if I see lots of 2D games support for it, but I prefer using a controller.
@Bread_or_Decide: I don't buy shit games and generally touch only and motion only games are shit.
Bad ass, dude. You are badass.

You realize this is a mobile phone game, right?
Funny that you constantly knock multi-plats as "worthless" compared to exclusives, but are now defending a mobile port. Bizarre.
For the most part, mobile games are the bottom of the barrel. This one is high rated on app stores, but it's a friggen touch rythm game. GTFO.
@jut: i think its pointed the wrong way though. pointing it at the TV would render the shoulder buttons useless. the switch also doesnt have an IR bar.
anywho its interesting to see that nintendo allow this. its not all that surprising. if nintendo required all games to work in docked and undocked mode then the touch screen would end up being pretty useless. no games could use it. so it makes sense.
i wonder if the reverse is also true though: can a developer game a game that will only work when docked? i have heared (i think digital foundry mentioned it but they may have been speculating) that developers always need to account for the undocked performance level. but thats only speculation as i say.
It is good. I was wondering about this for the longest but I'm glad Nintendo is not enforcing a "It has to work on TV mode too" with software.
A lot of games work best or only as a handheld and with touch screen controls.
VOEZ is good. And it's not going to work unless it is touch control.
I wish they release Deemo too though, with all the song packs and plus the Vita exclusive songs, because Vita's touch screen is just not responsive enough for this game.
@Heil68: you can ignore the story completely. I have been playing this since launch, never even read a single story shit. And it no anime background when playing the game.

?..not everyone is into touch screen game..I am also one of them..I don't mind motion control..but touchscreen?..forget it. :P
As far as I'm concerned, having the choice to get games like this is better than having no choice at all. Doesn't seem like a game I would pick up, but it could be something that interests my kids.
Don't see anything wrong with games that can only be played undocked or docked. Freedom of choice is entirely on the developer.
That said, I'm stoked for Voez. I tried it out immediately on my phone and it would easily be something I could sink dozens of hours into. Rhythm games are tons of fun for me on top of exposing me to new music I would then add to my collection.
