If Nintendo dropped the price of the Wii-U to $200 and bundled it with Mario 3D I would actually consider picking one up.

Until then it's a no go.

I don't see this as a financial panic. Nintendo can still be a profitable company. The likely issue is that they built up some infrastructure that made sense when they were getting wii sales numbers and now they are getting gamecube numbers. So, it's time to trim the fat.

Many companies go through re-structures like this and come out just fine. Nintendo is extremely wealthy, to the point where a +$300 million loss is not a big deal since early on in gens are the worst financial periods for any console. They are not panicking. They are being responsible.

Look at what killed Sega. It wasn't just one console. It was a string of horrible decisions across multiple gens. Sega CD, 32X, Saturn, and then Dreamcast. All of them sold badly. Nintendo was profitable with the GC. They have over $10 billion in liquid cash after the wii. The wiiu will be just fine.

Nintendo was not profitable from the GC - they were profitable during that era because of the GBA numbers (which outpace 3DS by a lot)

Sheep keep spreading the lie everywhere without checking the facts. One Sheep one day ran with this and everyone liked the sound of it and just assumed it was true.

Then they forget that the Wii U costs significantly more than the GCN to manufacture.

Nintendo is losing more money today than ever.

Notice in those links I provided from 2003, it sounds just like today. Even right down to the comments section with Nintendo apologists saying Nintendo is fine and have lots of money. Nevermind that their net worth is significantly less today than in 2003. They have money but far less of it than in the GCN - that depletion is a result of their constant mistakes

so is sony in trouble too?

Nintendo cannot ditch 3DS because they need it. Problem is, 3DS continually misses projections and undersel. What is going to happen in three years when 3DS is selling very little, and the Wii U nearly dead?

Three years from now nintendo's next machine will already be out
