During the financial briefing that just happened a couple of minutes ago, Iwata stated some of the things happening, with figurings ala Skylanders/Disney Infinity to make full use of the NFC function on the game pad, which will have multiple functions between games.

However at the talk of the Wii U, Iwata stated the following that the Wii U no longer selling at a loss and more games to come at E3.

Wii U's no more at loss, Mario Kart 8 about to give the Wii U the boost Titanfall failed to give the Xbone, NFC function that will attract the crowd and possibly more given they are simply not just toys to collect and have multiple functions, and much more to still be revealed.

Quick Reminder while PS4 is still seeing top spot, Sony in the inside is having a bad financial time especially since PS4's are still selling at a loss, which nobody cared to talk about yet yell loud whenever something happens to Nintendo.

Glorious. Unless Nintendo step up their game, then this is irrelevant.

This PR means nothing to me or my launch and very dusty Wii U. I don't care that they are selling at a loss or making profit, at all. I never will. I never cared in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and certainly not now in 2014. That's investor and fan-kid stuff.

I do care about what is delivered to me as a gamer and consumer. That's it. If they don't deliver, I turn on other machines. I watch TV. I go to the movies. I play sports. I don't have time for that sort of "Sales/Who's profiting the most off of dumb consumer"nonsense, unless I'm paid to worry or it's my business.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not impressed with any of the new machines software, but I know what I'm in for as an early adopter. I bought the N64, GC, and Wii at their launches, this is all old news.

*goes back to playing last gen games*

How are they gonna make profits when its not selling at all anymore?

I doubt any profits they start making off the WiiU now would be of any help at this point.

Does it really matter if they aren't selling Wii U at a loss anymore? Wii U's not selling at all is the problem.

Are they going to turn this around? Nope. Are they going to make money? Yes. Two very different things.

That doesn't stop the WiiU from being...a WiiU.

It's odd that Nintendo can be profitable with low console sales while Sony is going bankrupt with high console sales.

A WiiU version of:

Pokemon

Zelda

Metroid

Starfox

This is what I want to see at E3.

They aren't going to make money either, because their volumes are so low. At this sales pace, they will never recoup the sunk R&D costs, the tooling costs at factories, etc.

Their comment only means the "variable" costs of producing one additional unit. Although I thought that would have happened a long time ago, I find it hard to believe that Wii-U's still cost anywhere near $299 to produce, and hopefully under $200. They need to do a price cut badly, to get sales volumes up. Hopefully this comment is a hint that their costs are low enough that they can do a substantial price-cut, and not that they are just barely eeking out $10 profit on a $299 system. Because that will never work...
