I imagine racing fans wouldn't agree with the racing bit either (which seems like a bad joke), but overall they certainly are a great gaming company.

lolnope in almost every instance. They made the best platformer, but that was almost 25 years ago.

They certainly come out with top class stuff in most genres they decide to tackle, I just wish they'd deal with more genres.

Thankfully this E3 showed us they're willing to branch out a bit.

Neither their racing game nor fighting game hold a candle to other more nuanced racing and fighting games. They are outclassed from a depth standpoint.

Their one exclusive jrpg is nice and all, but the rpg? let's not get carried away here. And adventure game? They don't make point and clicks, unless we're talking about Zelda, because even then you are wrong, but they do have a dope action adventure game. It's called Metroid. Mario's dominance goes without question.

Outside of platformer, none of what Nintendo does is the gold standard. That isn't to say it is bad or not great. But Nintendo does their own style. As good as Mario Kart 8 is, it is not comparible to the likes of Forza or Gran Turismo, they are different styles and focus on different things.

Imo fighting games have become too deep. I liked them a lot before combos. Now there is just so much tedious memorization. SSB was a breath of fresh air and not just for lack of combos (or even moves) but it challenged the core mechanics of the fighting genre instead of just being another Street Fighter 2 variant.

In terms of racing games by Nintendo? Sorry but MarioKart is a party game at this point. They don't match up to competition. Even if you don't like racing sims, a game like Burnout Paradise last gen is such a better arcade racer than MK.

Zelda is so stale and overdone at this point. Unlike SSB, Nintendo just slavishly sticks to an outdated formula. They act like Ocarina was the best game possible which is not the case. It carries the limitations of the N64 and it feels like even the new games are keeping the limitations of the N64. A Link Between Worlds was very fun and a glimmer of hope but far from being ideal. I love that it breaks the formula, but I don't think that it's new formula should be a model for future Zeldas.

Super Smash Bros is not a Mario game, but a crossover of various different Nintendo franchises.

You're more than welcome to your opinion, but I'm going to jump out here and highly disagree.

The emphasis on motion controls ruined me on Nintendo consoles. I had such a horrid experience with the Wii that I didn't bother with Wii-U until the Zelda announcement at this last E3. I still have no idea on if the new Zelda will be forced motion controls or not, but that decision will be my main factor in if I buy the system or not. Gamecube got me into Zelda and I own all Zelda games (released before 2007) except Link to the Past on Gamecube because of the great controller. I bought a Wii mostly for Skyward Sword and the forced motion controls were so bad that it ruined the game for me. I never bothered beating it. It's my opinion that great games like Zelda should have minimal motion controls in them, if any. Not be heavy motion controls and forced on the player.

Perfect gameplay? No. There is no perfect gameplay.

Best exclusives? Subjective. It depends on what you grew up on, what your tastes were and how your tastes have changed. I personally know what I like and Nintendo isn't it.
