Nintendo have become too Greedy...

I like Nintendo games, but If you follow them from 2001-2006-2012 ...you can tell they became too greedy. Especially in the Handheld department...

Was it the not so stellar sales of Gamecube and N64 that caused them to turn into what they are today ??

But They get away with it :)

Gameboy : 1987-1998

Gameboy Color : 1998 - 2001

Gameboy Advance : 2001 - 2003

GBA SP : 2003

GBA micro : 2004

BUT THEN....

Nintendo DS, DS Lite, DSI, DSI XL....all within 5 years

I bet 2014 they'll release 3DS with second analog and capacitive touch screen, and touch back panel ala Vita...

pretty much every company has to do something like that just to keep up with the competition.

There is a difference between pricing back in the days of Gameboy compared today due to economics. You should have learn that by now!

and what of the PC Hardware Bussiness and Cell Phone Bussiness? Heck what about Sony and Microsoft with their SKUs of Xbox 360 and Ps3s?

And Sony is greedy for releasing 4 different type of Psp and Ps3.

Nintendo is way to greedy, but it isnt because they are making different models for handhelds.

The rear touch panel on the Vita is pretty pointless so I doubt it.

It turns out that revisions get people on board consistently. They are giving people more options and a cosmetic design that is up to date. There is no big difference between iterations, so you don't really have to purchase the upgrade. It's just for Nintendo to keep sales up throughout the generation. For example, could you imagine the DS Phat on the market 4 years down the track next to devices such as iPhones and other flash smart phones? It almost looked outdated when it first came out, so obviously their sales would suffer if they didn't keep up with the times.

No one is forcing you to upgrade. For example, I had a DS Phat throughout the whole generation. I have a 3DS, and don't plan on buying the XL. But I'm glad that they redesign; it either keeps them competitive or gives people options (e.g larger/less portable or smaller/portable).
