Nintendo has found a new way to advertise the WiiU

Nintendo has sent a PM to all Wii owners to buy the WiiU.

I don't know how many people will see the actual message.

This advertising method is weird and it may work.

I don't think this will really be that effective TBH. 

Should have atleast waited until after E3 and after they've done all those Nintendo Directs, when they could have talked about any announcemnets made during then in the E-mail to actually give incentive to Wii owners to buy a Wii U, as opposed to just saying "Will you buy this now? :("

I don't even think anyone checks those. If you actually do, you already know that WiiU exists.

try again Nintendo. Make a commercial that doesn't suck horribly, or release some games that people will want/like. Maybe that will work.

Well, it probably took Nintendo all of 5 minutes to send to millions of Wii users... free advertisement. I would say that the threads and internet hype on the "stupidity" of this is what will catch people's attention. This is sure to make news on other non gaming sites. I think it was a brilliant move. It sure as hell can not hurt their sales and it cost them nothing... lol

Desperation? Maybe so. I think the problem is that everybody knows about it, but they do not want to buy the console until some of the bigger nintedo exclusives drop and the console gets a price drop... hell, I know I'm in the group I just explained, because it is a given I will buy a WiiU at some point, and I am positive there will be some great games for it down the road.

Wiiu is more outdated than cassette players.

I can only dream of them doing something like that again. They can't even just advertise their good games normally anymore. Its gotta be wrapped in something stupid like family members jumping around waving there hands in games where you don't even do that.

i feel sorry for nintendo, i really do ..  They made the first game system i ever played ( super nintendo). The made the first game that sucked me into gaming ( super mario bros).  I wish they get there fuking act together and start supporting many types of gamers instead of predominantly children.  As good as pikimin 3 looks for example, i dont think i'd ever pay full price for it. 

To be honest, i hope they go software only , atleast in the home console department. Stick to making hand helds and games for that hand held. Then go the sega route for the big boy leagues.  I'd buy a new donkey kong for the pc .  

These gimmicky consoles are only good for their games alone, so multiplats are a joke om them, which makes it pointless to buy a nintendo console over a pc or playstation.

You should not feel sorry for Nintendo. They have billions sitting in the bank and they put out a POS console with no games. They clearly think people are stupid after the Wii fad.

HMMM... Wut? No offence Nintendo but would it be better to advertise like on TV, Internet, magazines. Nintendo Direct was a great idea but this is just slow thinking as it been better when first released the WiiU rather than now. I've yet to see a game advertised since Xmas for the WiiU when you have had games like MH Tri released upon it but seen gazillion 3DS adverts.dobzilian

If I were them I'd sell the consoles with a packed in vouchers for a free Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros, once they release, for redemption on their eShop, if they buy the console before the end of the year... I mean seeing how desperate they are it couldn't hurt.lamprey263
