Not really lol. I'm only hyped because the precedent being set of them acknowledging the existence of the original. It must mean MOTHER 3 isn't far behind.

It took about 25 years for the game to arrive in the West, but is worth the wait.

It will be availble in less than three hours from now (6 p.m. PT) for both North America and Europe.

This is the first game in the series. It was never released in the west. They are now doing it.

You should care because it's still a good game, but mostly because, with Mother and Earthbound now out, that means Mother 3 is an almost certainty for a localization.

Hard to get excited about a $10 NES digital title.

Sorry I meant what's the deal with the series/Mother 3. I don't understand the hype and Wikipedia doesn't really explain it properly.

Ah man, it's hard to explain. They're incredible JRPGs, quirky, charming, amazing soundtracks, but mostly known for their affecting and touching (and also horrifying) stories. Mother 1 was like a prototype in that regard, Earthbound can leave you with a sort of feeling of existential dread if you follow all of its themes.

I have never played Mother 3, since it was never officially localized, but those that have tell me that it is the best game in the series, and that it might be the best Nintendo game ever made- which would by extension make it one of the, if not the, greatest game ever made.

Well, Nintendo, you have my attention!

Still haven't played Earthbound, but I did get it as one of the last ClubNintendo offerings.

I had issues earlier today when I was trying to buy the new Smash DLC, but after about 45 minutes, I was finally about get it lol. Right now, I got in with no problem but can't find the game.

I want to support this but I've barely touched Earthbound and I just spent more than I'd like on Smash DLC. This will have to wait.

I need to take a sabbatical and just play Nintendo games for one whole year, from 1983 until today. I see the light, I just haven't personally accepted Nintendo as my lord and saviour. Still a pagan PC gamer lol.
