Changes to Quick Start Menu:

  • The Quick Start Menu will now display when the Wii U is powered on from the Wii U GamePad TV Remote

Changes to the HOME Menu:

  • The design and layout of the HOME Menu has been updated

Changes to the Nintendo eShop:

  • Disabled usage of characters not used when redeeming Nintendo eShop cards (O, I, Z, etc.)

Improvements to system stability and usability:

  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

SOURCE

Folders! Finally!

The FW update is available now (should have downloaded itself to most consoles already, actually), so feel free to go ahead and download it, especially since it sounds like a pretty substantial one.

As for the folders... come on PS4, Xbox One- get on the Wii U's level.

I blame the internet and the amount of tubes it has for the slow evolution of the PC.

This actually reminds me, whatever happened to Briefcases? The last time I saw one was in Windows XP, did they just drop those, or what?

Was there ever any use to them? They were basically just meta-folders, right?

"The Briefcase feature in Windows XP helps you keep your files updated by automatically synchronizing multiple copies of individual files. In other words, Briefcase keeps track of the relationship between files on two or more computers. For example, if you use a desktop computer at the office, and you use a portable computer when you are on the road, Briefcase synchronizes and updates the files on your desktop computer to the modified versions when you reconnect your portable computer to the desktop computer."

Am a win8 pleb and haven't used any other predecesor OS's for quite a while heh. So just got that info from microsoft support.

nice to have. strange that it took them so long to implement. the 3DS has had this feature for a long time. maybe they are just using completely different OSs so they couldnt reuse any code.

still...speed nintendo. speed gods dam you! the OS has 1GB of ram in reserve and (as far as i know) a cpu core to itself. nintendo needs to get smarter about how they load and manage data on the console. both OS and game data (game start up times also need to be cut down).

Folders come as useless to me right now since I don't have much downloads.

Yet these very "basic features" are not implemented on PS4 or X1.
