Probably a lot of bullshit, so expect a downgrade in the final build.

What do you think?

#2 Edited by Ballroompirate (22281 posts) -

It's Ubisoft, it will be downgraded. The gameplay does look dope though.

Frostbite and Snow drop. Both EA and Ubisoft developing their top notch engines in a little country called Sweden :)!

Getting pretty tired of hearing the term 'downgrade'.

Yeah, Dark Souls 2 looks vastly different from what was originally shown, however Watch Dogs and The Division haven't even been released yet.

is this where consolites pretend they havn't bashed MMOs all along? Like they've had to do for indy and vr recently?

oh and best on PC

A lot of bullshit? Dude, its ALL bullshit, its fking Ubishit kind of bullshit

This is a tech demo. They're showing what the engine can do with the right hardware. The PS4 and XB1 both use relatively slow GPU's, but they'll try and get as close as they can to the render targets. I don't understand the hate for Ubisoft here. They make amazing games, and they do what they can with the hardware that Sony and MS put in their consoles. If you want better graphics, then why not build a gaming PC?

Why some Swedes are doing it? Who's the team behind it?

#12 Posted by clyde46 (44103 posts) -

I really hope that it will look this good on PC. Hell I bet that E3 demo was running on a PC.

Pretty snappy exhibition. I'd be content if I were to get the build being shown here when development wraps up.

But obligatory, Its. F*cking. Ubisoft.™.

This will be so downgraded for Xboner it will look like a 360game:P

The Division is not an MMO.

Link? Every time this game is mentioned in an article or by devs they say MMO

honestly, I doubt all of that could even run at 720p on the X1.

If there is no downgrade (which you know there will), it would run 720p 30fps on PS4 , 540P 30fps on X1.

It looks very impressive. I cant wait to see more gameplay.

#21 Posted by Snugenz (11739 posts) -

It's gonna suck when it looks alot worse than that at launch.

#22 Edited by R3FURBISHED (10209 posts) -

Looks like an in-engine trailer.

Why some Swedes are doing it? Who's the team behind it?

They did Ground Control and World in Conflict in the past. They also collaborated with Ubisoft Montreal on FC3.

Tech demo looks great, I wish it would still look like that when it releases, at least let people with high end pc's have the option to have it look like that, instead of downgrading it across all platforms.

#25 Posted by seanmcloughlin (38210 posts) -

Visually extremely impressive. But I don't expect the final game to look anywhere near that good

What can be achieved on a high end PC*

Frostbite

Snow drop

ouh, now all makes sense... but since when is Ubisoft from sweden? I thought they were French...

Ignore the misleading title

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/10/the-division-inside-the-tom-clancy-mmo-shooter

David Polfeldt, managing director at Massive, says “We wanted a lighter game than [World of Warcraft]. I’m not calling [The Division] an MMO,” although he’s aware of the similarities. The Division will not, however, feature classes. “We allow you to progress through the skill tree as you refer,” Polfeldt explains. In addition, you can respec your skills at any time, or on the fly.

I also remember Arthur Gies saying the Division is not an MMO on a RebelFM.

Yeah, lets see how Watch Dogs turns out.

#30 Posted by airshocker (28841 posts) -

I'll be playing it on the PC. #notworried

#31 Edited by Flubbbs (2912 posts) -

i dont expect a downgrade like Watch Dogs.. this is a full next next gen game. looks great and i hope alot of the buildings in NYC are enterable

#32 Edited by biggest_loser (24012 posts) -

It looks great. Since this is primarily an online game played with friends, if you get it on PS4 does that mean you have to still pay the online fee on top of buying the game?

Sushiglutton is right, you're not. Ubisoft Massive is from Sweden.

Any engine demo can look good running on a powerful PC.

That said, after seeing Infamous real ingame gameplay all in real time this engine demo isn't even that impressive.

#36 Posted by MBirdy88 (7438 posts) -

Hahah not on consoles.

#37 Posted by FoxbatAlpha (6067 posts) -

It has the makings of a masterpiece. I just hope progress continues this way.

Of all of Ubisofts studios I trust Massive the most, they have a great track record and if they're given the time I think they could definitely produce something that looks this good. People have moaned about Far Cry 3 being downgraded but that was still a fantastic looking game.

#39 Posted by FoxbatAlpha (6067 posts) -

1:20 and 1:40 XBOX ONE controller can be seen in use.

Infamous SS does indeed look very tasty but the lighting and particle effects going on in that Snowdrop demo are insane. There's also some fakery in Infamous's reflections. Look at the pic below, the two blue lights shouldn't be reflecting in that puddle from the camera's angle. The shadow on the girl on the left is also doesn't extend the full way. Tiny little details that overall don't really matter though when playing. Plus Infamous is real time and the Division likely won't reach that tech demo's level of fidelity

Dammit, stop posting InFamous photos here.

I'm trying not to spoil anymore InFamous goodies!

That being said, and off to being on-topic:

I'm going to gladly assume that was all running on a high-end PC and most likely be downgraded - graphically - on consoles.

Technical wise, i'm sure it's all possible on current-gen hardware - just not in the graphical sense.
