They are gonna sell out soooo quick and be impossible to find. It's the Wii all over again.

I just picked mine up at midnight launch- was 11th in line and they had 12 to sell, phew!

If you want one, consider being there ahead of opening at Target, Best Buy, Gamestop, Staples, or other non 24 hour stores.

I will update later with some impressions, but I am already very happy with Pixel Perfect mode, and the colors and audio and input are great.

No it won't be the Wii all over again. It might be more like their Amiibos.

Though Nintendo REALLY likes to under produce their Products for some reason.

I definitely expect them to be hard to find until at least January. Demand seems high while supply seems low. I hope I'm able to get one today.

I just built a RetroPie. I have Bluetooth controllers and over 5,000 games (everything from Atari 2600 to Arcade to Playstation 1). Many games are Netplay enabled so you can play Mario Kart 64 with people all over the world.

These "classic" consoles have been around for a long time (Atari, Sega, Neo Geo, etc). I think OP is seriously over valuing the NES Classic's appeal.

Saving up for Nintendo Switch. Im hoping it will be a much better design.

This system is redundant and stupid. NOONE should be buying this crap. Nintendo should have simply sold a gaming package that was playable on existing systems across systems instead of clogging up everyone's gaming space with more hardware.

I would definitely like one, but not for $60. I can already all of the games on my actual NES. One day I will probably get it for the collection, but I'm in no rush, I can wait until interest has died down, and the price drops. Now had they made it able to add more games, or play mini cartridges then I would have probably been there day one.

If they came out with a SNES mini, I would buy that in a heartbeat. NES is a good system, but SNES has the better library and lot of those games hold up better today or are superior to their NES counterparts. Also, I'm waiting for the Switch to see how that turns out.

Good shit TC, glad you're enjoying it.

I'd get one if I were a collector, but that's about it.

For me to really consider picking one up for gaming purposes the games list would need to be much more sizable and pack in more of the systems best games. Also needs a controller cord that isn't so short. And even then it'd be a tough sell for obvious reasons.

As it stands it's more of a novelty item than anything else. Not an issue, obviously that's what Nintendo was going for. It's the kind of thing I might impulse buy if I see it at Walmart, but I won't be seeking one out.

seems like a pure nostalgia product. I wouldn't mind having it but 60 bucks is steep for what it is. I should be a mark for this thing since I grew up with the NES but I've never really been into nostalgia that much I guess.

I understand Nintendo's thinking about the cord. A longer cord would be convenient, or better yet cordless, but they were going for a certain feel. It's also why you have to hit the reset button the console itself for a certain function, rather than have that button on the controller or in a pause menu. You are supposed to play on the floor close to the TV. It's part of the retro feel, since that's what the NES experience was like back in the day. You are meant to interact with the console itself more than you do today.

I'm guessing Nintendo felt that there would be no point to the product whatsoever if people just buried the thing in their entertainment centers and played from their couch like it was a modern gaming system. Then it really would just be just an emulator. Those cord extensions you can buy for this thing could just ruin the experience they intend. In this modern day, having an ugly cord stretching across your room to a tiny box by your TV seems stupid to me, and of course having to get up and walk across the room every time you need to hit the reset button is a nuisance.

Well another thing is that if you're into video games enough to be posting on SW then you're into video games enough to know that there are a variety of better ways to go about playing NES games.

I'm sure Nintendo will see some success with this thing, just not from the 'core' gamer looking for something to game on.

I imagine this thing will sell well with -

1. Collectors.

2. People who are nostalgia stricken, but aren't really into games anymore. Like my older bro. He thinks this thing is awesome. The NES was the last console he owned lol.

3. The core gamers who have money to burn and don't mind picking this up as a novelty item.

These are getting listed on fleabay at crazy prices, what's crazier are the buyers buying it at the inflated price. Pretty dumb too since Nintendo stated on their Twitter that they will supply the demand steadily throughout the holiday shopping season into the new year. I was able to score one but will try to resell it. I'll get it again later on. It's a nice nostalgic toy.

I thought about buying one for a moment. I own all the Nintendo consoles and handhelds, but never owned a NES.

But that moment quickly vanished. This is the definition of a gimmick for me.

Feels like a waste of money to play very old games. Yeah super mario bros is cool, but the SNES version is better :D

Why would i wanna waste money and time on outdated 80s games when i can be playing masterpieces such as FFXV?

NES games aren't even worth a single cent to me.

They weren't really official were they?

And NES branded products seem to hold a lot of retro value still today, even for people who never owned the original. It's the one console I wish I owned during its time.

@iandizion713: the cord size is ridiculously small. Any chance of me getting this went when I saw that. Also retro games are fun for like 5 minutes then you realise how outdated they are.

To everyone else: the NES Classic Edition (Mini) is not for children. It is for older people like me who played these games in the 1980's.

I was only planning on buying a controller cause i wanted for some games on my Wii U, but we couldnt find any. I actually almost missed out, but our military store got 10 in. I was like holy crap, yall got as much as Best Buy did.

Amazon's stock sold out in just a few seconds. I was constantly refreshing the page and they were gone before I could complete checkout. They are also sold out at BestBuy, Gamestop, Target, and Walmart. Damnit, as I anticipated, demand is high and supply is low, so this thing will be extremely difficult to find until at least January.

There's really no need to preorder a product such as this. But Leave it to Nintendo to only fulfill the needs of all 2 people who Pre-Ordered.

Getting all 30 NES Classic Edition games on Wii/Wii U Virtual Consoles will set you back ~$150. The point is to get a replica of a ~30yr old console with 30 games if you don't already have original.

The NES Classic can display the games in 3 different resolutions: CRT filter, 4:3; and pixel perfect on your HD TV.

This is why I said "Personally". Having a Wii & a WiiU for nearly 10 years and constantly using and downloading stuff to it has me realizing that buying this system would really just be a Novelty rather than a Thing for me to play these games. I already own like Half of the games listed for it, I might as Well just finish the List off by downloading them on my WiiU Virtual Console.

I'd also get more variety doing this, So I can get games like Double Dragon or Ninja Gaiden 3 and even obtain Master Blaster and River City Ransom which isn't even on the North American NES Minis, but on the Famicom Minis.

Only thing I thought would be neat to have is the Controller. Playing these games with the Wiimote sideways is alright, but nothing beats playing these games with their Original Controller which is beyond awesome...IF I COULD JUST GET ONE! YOU KNOW?

For me it is like having my old console back, but better. I was never going to be able to collect all of the original games or afford them all on Virtual Console. I know that you can sometimes find old consoles at yard sales, but this is like getting a replica with a large game compilation (30 games). Yes, nostalgia is a big part of it.

I will just continue with the library on the Wii U or Nintendo Switch if I need to. This is going to sound strange to some, but I have been waiting years for Nintendo to put Joust on Virtual Console. Then I played Balloon Fight on NES Mini and realized that this game is Nintendo's version of Joust, and it is pretty fun. I am looking forward to playing all of the games. When the original NES came out I only owned 3 or 4 games, and I rented and borrowed others. Several of the games are ones that I will replay over and over because they are arcade and platformers that do not really age for me. (Edit: For me, Nintendo makes video games that are re-playable like card and board games).

Wouldnt that be the better route since you can add games to it?

I dont like it at all. The cord is too short. 6/10, would not buy again.

This system is redundant and stupid. NOONE should be buying this crap. Nintendo should have simply sold a gaming package that was playable on existing systems across systems instead of clogging up everyone's gaming space with more hardware.

Collectors usually tend to buy these kinds of things when they are official n all. Like me, I plan to have it for display, no intention of playing it.
