More PSN Issue After Minecraft Launches on PS4

Wow, that didn't take long. As soon as Minecraft launched on the PS4, PSn started experiencing issues. Did a million PS4 gamers get this game on day one and cause a network traffic jam. Gamers are getting the error code - NP-36147-1, while others can't even get to the Playstation Store.

Of course Sony comes back with their usual, "We are aware of the issue and are looking into the problem. Let's see how the launch goes on the XB1 tomorrow.

After initially failing certification, the long-awaited PlayStation 4 version of Minecraft has launched today on the PlayStation Store. It's probably no coincidence that, not long after it went live, the PlayStation Network began experiencing a variety of issues.

Users on Twitter and NeoGAF are reporting they are having issues when attempting to connect to PSN; this includes receiving the error code NP-36147-1. I, for one, can't do anything involving PSN, such as viewing my friends list or accessing the PlayStation Store.

The official Twitter support account for Twitter has confirmed the issues. "We are aware that there are currently some issues with accessing PSN," a tweet sent out this afternoon reads. "Thanks for your patience as we work to resolve the issues."

Another tweet acknowledges issues involving Minecraft for PS4, but doesn't outright connect its launch to the PSN problems. "If you are having issues getting or accessing Minecraft for the PS4, please try again later," it advises. "We are looking into the issues."

We've contacted Sony to find out more and will report back with anything we learn.

PSN was recently subjected to a DDoS attack that brought it down temporarily. After being brought back online, it again suffered from connectivity issues, though things have been working better since the end of August.

Minecraft is available on PS4 for $20, or just $5 if you own the PS3 version. This is the second time Minecraft has come to a PlayStation system, following last year's PS3 release. Despite being several years old at this point, Minecraft has been the top-selling PS3 game on the PlayStation Store every month since its release, and sales on other platforms have shown little sign of slowing. An Xbox One release is coming tomorrow, with a PlayStation Vita release still in the works.

PSN should be free because it's a joke to pay for such a shitty joke of a service. Has it improved to justify a yearly fee? Nope.

I'm just wondering if it was the Minecraft game that caused the problem or something else within the PSN network. Were there thousands of gamers trying to buy Minecraft at the same time when it launched online? PSN should be better then this, especially since we are paying for it now.

They can do it because nobody calls them out on it. If people stopped being such fanboys and actually caused some shit over it, they would be forced to fix it.

Sony is obviously leading. The only reason XBL isn't going down, is because nobody's using it. I love what Sony did with the Ps4 this gen. Microsoft fucked up entirely.

that makes no sense whatsoever. unless all 10 million people rushed to download minecraft at the same time, its irrelevant how many units were sold. It was the actual amount of people trying to download minecraft at the same time. Also we have no way of telling exactly who much traffic each can handle, but after the DDoS attack, its clear that XBL can handle more traffic then PSN as they were both flooded with more traffic then they'd get from regular usage. Also Sony's problem will get worse and worse as they get more users unless they upgrade right away. it can't handle the 10 million it has now, how will it handle 100 million? 150 million? etc etc

I have been playing d3 on psn whole day and have not noticed any problems at all with online gaming

I was going to say maybe Sony should have delayed the release but I don't think it'll matter since they will still likely have issues with PSN. I predict Destiny will have issues on PSN. I hope not.

Also played my first race in Forza, pretty fun.

No problems at all.

I tried to sign in to PSN last night at around 11 and it was still down for me.
