@MonsieurX: Agreed.
It turns out this is another example that SW know shit about corporate acquisitions.
Microsoft did two brilliant things: 1) Buying Minecraft. 2) Not making it an exclusive. Good for them! And kudos to Notch for creating the greatest and most influential video game of the last decade. It may not be my type of game, but I sure am glad that the biggest phenomenon in video games right now is the complete opposite of the cinematic AAA bullshit that, apparently, is the only type of game that this industry dares to make nowadays.

There are already two versions that fragment the userbase. The original Java and the Windows 10 Edition.
Turns out this is another example that SW know shit about anything. :)

Agreed! I don't know why people criticize MS for buying out a franchise that still prints a lot of money? My niece is obsessed with the game and as well as her friends in the 1st grade.

I know everything about shit, you take that back.
@loe12k: I remember reading rumors of Minecraft 2 launching with the Scorpio, but it's a vague rumor I remember so I have no clue to its validity. I just remember reading this somewhere not too long ago.
I'm happy to see this series do well, and as someone who believes in gaming as a very valid pastime and hobby, I'm also glad to see this game used for educational purposes, I think it's nice to see such games emerge from the gaming industry, they improve its overall image to the mainstream. I really tried to get into it myself, but could not. It's not that I don't like the game, I might be able to get into it if I really wanted to, I just have other games I prefer to play. I'm also not really the creator type to be honest.
I know Microsoft is trying to make money off of it by promoting it as an educational tool, that could prove very beneficial to them long-term.

Virtual lego....
This the future of Xbox. Third party ventures to be successful.
Scorpio is their last console.
Surface Pro tables sales are pretty good despite 3rd party PC tablets offerings

LOL ?
I know we had to burn it in the field. Never thought I wanted a Porto John so bad in my life.

With Sony, there's a very high chance that a game company buyout will result in an exclusive Sony hardware release.

Are you saying that Sony may get bought out by MS? I won't be surprise
I still don't get the appeal of this game.
Same here. I tried it and found it incredibly boring and pointless.
My kids love this series; got it on tablets, PS4, and now the PC verison (tried to get the Windows 10 version, but the Windows update kept freezing after 3 days of trying).
Shoot, this series motivated me to install and sign up for Steam (wasn't aware until afterward that it wasn't available on Steam).

That probably says more about you than it does about the game.

games as service. it's much better profit to keep adding content to minecraft then try and get 100+ million people to buy a sequel.
Do you know how much bank these games make on skin packs and such?

Me too but for kids it's like crack. it's basically virtual lego sets. they even play it in schools.
Remember kids have tons of free time and need an outlet to express their creativity
