MGS Master Collection has as little effort put into as Konami could get away with

After the already lukewarm preview builds for MGS Master Collection Konami has shared more details of their poor remastering job disguised as a full priced game.

These are basically the PS3 versions ported over 1:1

Okay? Bad compilation all around. One version being worse only equates to messier and stinkier trash. Doesn't mean you should play with ANY trash.

Easy pass.... With so much new content flooding games why would anyone want to grind their gaming time to a halt to play something they've likely already played from 20 years ago? If they put work into the games maybe I could see the case but who is this for?

If this Collection came with MGS4, I would be all over this for the Steam version. Sadly, this isn't the case and this Collection is an easy pass.

This seems almost exactly like that Dark Souls situation.

Konami went so far off track that they have trouble finding the track again.

Silent Hill 2 and Metal gear solid snake eater remakes could be good but... they could just as well be awful. So far nothing shows that Konami has a single clue what they are doing.

Most people who buy this collection will never open it anyways.

But you can't refund on Playstation nor Nintendo stores when purchasing digitally, so that isn't good advice either.

I think you can get a refund on PSN as long as you don't click the download button when purchasing a game. I can recall a couple of times where I accidentally purchased a game I didn't want and asked for a refund and got it. In case you're curious, it was the same game, just a different version of it, like PS4 when I meant to get the PS5 version. :3 Keep in mind that they could have changed their policy... That or someone working at PSN was gracious.

I don't understand the complaint. Is it because it's not 4K? Not like anyone would notice the differences on 20+ year old games. Gamers have become such whiners, don't want it don't buy it. What was everyone expecting?

Not true for my case anyway, I bought some Biomutant DLC and instantly regretted it, didn't press the download button.

They never gave me the option to refund, this is against EU laws but they still wouldn't offer me a refund.

1080p is an olden resolution. Like an olden bar that used to exist during the crusades and still exists today.

Nah the reason I'm complaining is because of the lack of effort put into this; This is exactly the PS3 version of these PS2 games ported over 1:1, if we came two generations just to get the exact same version than this is exactly what I'm calling it out to be: a piss poor cash grab.

Especially when other remasters provide benefits like

• HDR support
• modernised controls
• AI upscaled textures
• Unlocked framerates
• Unlocked resolutions

Pick whichever one you want from the above: MGS Piss poor cash grab edition has neither.

Was going to wait for it to drop to like $10 even if it had more bells and whistles. *shrug*

Their reveal trailer looked like an imitation of Kojima style without knowing why things are the way that they are. From that trailer alone you could've seen it being trash.

Average effort for average games, seems about right to me. What's the problem here?

Part of me hopes Konami will take a step back and actually put some effort in after the backlash but I'm pretty confident they don't care about their fans. At least with PC, modders can mod in 4k and other things.

Yes, every version will run as good, or as bad as the base PS4 version does.

Except for Switch, which will run worse.
