MGS4 is gonna pwn, and no its not just a new coat. They are adding alot of new things, as seen in the Gameplay trailer.

Let me tell you this, when I downloaded the 15 minute trailer, I've shown it to " CASUALS " and when the trailer is stopped everyone said " Don't tell me HALO 3 , don't tell me Killzone 2, don't tell anything else this is something completely different, every time they release a new MGS they rock" (some of them even don't know who release this game ).

How in the blue hell is MGS4 the same thing? Did you even watch the new gameplay footage? it looks TOTALLY advanced and different, More so than any sequal, IMO. A variety of camera angles, New weapons, New CQC moves, New camosystem, new gameplay look and actions..should i go on???

i went off the MGS series after the PS1 game....2 and 3 felt more like movies with games tacked on imho? couldnt stand 2 and 3 was a bit meh imho. however i saw kojimas recent vid on infiltrating a battlefield and there are some kewl things there allright. it looks like theres a hint of splinter cell there but in a very MGS way (if that makes any sense :P). it does draw a fair bin on past MGS games but every franchise is guilty of that. there are bound to be alot of things we havent seen yet too.

if kojima cuts down on the cinematics then im interested. i cant stand long cinematics but the game looks very interesting.

I'm not saying the game will suck. Quite the contrary, I think the game could be great. The action sequences seemed like alot of fun but I'm just saying. Isn't it just the same old MGS formula applied to a new place with a little newness sprinkled in for good effect?

I really think that this may end up being what Guns of the Patriots ends up being. Just the same old MGS formula recycled and improved upon slightly. Now I admit, the graphics are jaw dropping but honestly will it bring anything new to stealth games at all?
Does it even matter, because most PS3 owners will just buy the game to justify the purchase of their console... won't they (not neccessarily true for everyone)?

I doubt you've ever played MGS before, the gameplay is largely improved by every sequel.
