Don't blame them when reviews mean so damn much and you have idiot reviewers who intentionally give it a bad score because they're fanboys of another series.
...okay I do blame them. This is kinda low, but it must be hard to judge the MP when you have no one else to play with.
I don't think Nintendo or Sega do this.being honest i think every company does this nowadays.

Yeah, its so much better to fly your reviewer out to a island paradise spa treatment for them to do their review. Heil68Namco Bandai must have sent Gamespot to Siberia for their Ace Combat Assault Horizon review. :P
This has been done since forever. MS threatened to include reporters on a black list if they didn't give their products good reviews. That's why games like COD and Halo score so well across the board even though they mostly rehash. So many money is invested in them and their companies are used to doing it.kuraimenLast I checked Halo reach wasn't a rehash...

"I was then put into a helicopter and flown to Ojai, California, a small town about two hours north of Los Angeles. After landing in a field, I was driven to the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa, where I was given a posh suite to stay in for three days." How in the world would you score a game low based on that? I would want to go back. :P

I'm sure they do. I'm sure everybody who pumps millions into game development does.
The critical bashings of Mario Sports Mix, Metroid: Other M (mainly with X-Play's 2 out of 5), Sonic 06 and Sonic Unleashed HD seem to tell me otherwise.[QUOTE="razgriz_101"]I don't think Nintendo or Sega do this.being honest i think every company does this nowadays.

they all probably do theres no good or evil in the industy only grey.Same goes for music labels almost always do this with big releases, try and get it reviewed by a fan and its all golden.Theres been many a good example of this over the years.
I really hate the "everybody does it" argument. We have no way of knowing that. It's so demoralizing. EA has been caught, now they need to get flamed (within reason, I'm still getting the game :)!).Sushiglutton
These are businesses.. Ones that deal with multi million dollar profits.. They are going to do everything in their power to maximize their profits, this is a extremely cost effective way of going about it.

I don't get how it works tbh. If a site doesn't get a copy won't they notice when other sites do? Seems quite risky to me. I mean it could easily backfire.I don't think Nintendo or Sega do this.[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"][QUOTE="razgriz_101"]

Than what is the point of game reviews anymore if they all get influenced by the companys making the games ?

There should be corruption investigations if this really is a common marketing strategy.[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"]

I'm sure they'll still get a copy, just later than everyone else. That way the first batch of reviews is guaranteed to be very positive.God, it's a good time to be a reviewer. Who knows what EA and Acti are planning for them this time around?
Suppose we should start to abandon reviews in SW for big budget games. It's gotten pretty ridiculous.
Yes and they apologised and this and that. It's still unacceptable for the consumer. Now that this happens so often, they ruined something fantastic. How can any selfrespecting gamer still put trust in a reviewer. It's gone. For me, at least. Maybe Nintendo and Valve games are an exception? I wouldn't even dare to say that for sure.Well it is pretty important to EA that BF3 has higher scores than MW3 and they don't want troll reviewers bogging the score down

KungfuKitten
It is unacceptable for them to do this but your average consumer is too lazy to read an entire review so if they go on metacritic and see BF3 - 88 and MW3 - 92, it may hurt sales. I would imagine the swag that EA is giving to reviewers is going to be top notch
Wow so pathetic. When EA does it everyone says "everyone does it" but when Activision does it, it's not the same is it?
EA/Battlefield fanboys can be so pathetic sometimes

I believe that's your personal perception. EA is generally regarded as having reverted to their old ways of evil in mine.
Who is an EA fanboy? Nobody cares about publishers aside from Nintendo.Wow so pathetic. When EA does it everyone says "everyone does it" but when Activision does it, it's not the same is it?

depends on perception and after gretsmanngate its become a common conception most major pubs are doing this to be absolutely blunt.

This seems like the worst way to get a grip on review copies. Can't they just lie and say the reviewer freaking loves it even if he despises shooters with a passion? How does this work again?
How did the expect this to be kept a secret if they don't give copies to some major review sites? I mean they may write about it...Sushigluttonthe shocking part is that they thought this could stop them from just buying the game at a random retailer and give it an even worse score, 'cause they're now pissed off at EA.
Not really that big of a deal, people can review it a little after it comes out.
I mean, I am not advocating EA doing this. I think it's vile and unethical. But the timing of the reviews isn't as important to me as the quality.

I wondered if Namco did something to piss off GS at the time. The game is bad and the review isn't wrong, but 5.5 implies it's broken to me, 6.5 sounds right. It's just a bad game.
