Looks like it is a WB test in the hopes to get funding for an R rated movie reboot. There is also evidence its just marketing for a new game.

Wow! I that was actually quite interesting. This could maybe be a game(didn't midway go under?) or it could be that promised 3rdMortal Kombat movie.

That one sent shivers down my spine. If that is a legit MK movie, I will start believing that there can be good video game movies.

midway is own by WB. and Mortal Kombat 9 will be at E3 next week. I think its just a promotional vid. I doubt the characters will look that in the game

Gatta be honest looks dam cool. If its a movie im down for it. Its like they are trying to bring it to more of a non magical field. Sucks cage died.

Have you people seen most live action game trailers? Even nowadays they're pretty terrible, maybe it's just because that genuinely looked amazing, but I'm hoping that's not just a trailer.bobbetybob

I think some of the hardcore ones might cause baraka, sub zero(with mask), and reptile don't look they would in the game. And I don't WB would just leak a 7min clip for the movie. though anything is possible.

Just that trailer is better than any Mortal Kombat movies lol

Wow, this is interesting. I haven't cared about Mortal Kombat in a long long time. This video peaked my interest and I hope it is a sign they are taking the game back to its roots. I love the new Baracka. My beef with the series is it got way too complicated and too cartoony for its own good. The first two games were great because they were simple, fun, and yes, bloody.

I hope they do to MK what Capcom did to Street Fighter. Keep it 2d in gameplay but use 3d graphics.

That was actually really cool.

That looked better than the last movie, but I'm hoping it's either a clip to the new movie or a promotional trailer to the new game, or both.:o

exactly my point. look at the live actions trailers from halo 3 all the way to reach. they look trailers for a movie material but their really for the games. I'm pretty sure we will see more and more live action trailers for the upcoming video games.

And I like shaolin monks who ever said this trailer was better than the last 4 games.

It's back.... MK is back! Woooooooooooo. I have a feeling this trailer could be for the upcoming movie and game. I mean well all know a new MK is coming and as far as I heard next new MK movie called Devastation was canned but that could also be revived, the footage may well be hinting at both I know it's not an actual movie trailer of course. Here's hoping MK makes a big showcase at E3, this trailer was brutally awesome!

Just to make things clear, Joystiq mentioned that this may not be a theatrical movie, but a movie tie in to the game coming to E3. Warner Bros has nothing to do with that Mortal Kombat movie I believe and the real MK movie is supposed to come out some time in 2011

Why does this remind me of Legend of Chun Li? It seems like they are doing the exact same thing in rewriting the story from the original canon. Hopefully it doesnt turn out to be complete crap but i have my doubts.4NGoods

I'm think this might be a real movie. I've seen that black actor before in other movies, and the shadowy guy (Scorpion)- I'm almost POSITIVE that is Jim Caviezel... It sounded just like him, and despite the dark lighting, it looked like him too.

If it is him, why would they hire real professional actors for a small clip like this. Probably a real movie then.
