For Lightning, her story ends here in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, as this game is meant as a finale to this series. But we know that Lightning is an extremely popular character, even when compared to other Final Fantasy characters.

So there is a possibility that Lightning would appear in other future Final Fantasy titles, not as a protagonist, but as a guest character.

Why are they ruining games by spamming this character? Some nerds want porn with her so make dat crap instead of making the next FF yet another clothing simulator./

Ok. I don't hate Lightning but her potential to be one of FF's best characters was utterly squandered in her mainline series.

Her showing up as a guest character in games like Dissidia and Kingdom Hearts is fine with me. But S-E should be putting a bullet into the face of FFXIII's elements under consideration for future FF titles.

I enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII but boy would I be lying if I said Lightning was a highlight of the game.

TBH I cannot say this bothers me much as I never really hated her (never really cared much for her either). There are certainly worse FFXIII characters or FF characters in general that could be recycled. That and I am guessing they just mean she'll just make cameo appearances meant to reference the XIII series, not actually be relevant to plots in future FF games. I'll say that if she does actually play an important role in future FF stories then that would be pretty dumb.

With rare exceptions of recurring characters (Cid, Biggs, Wedge, etc), characters should not appear in FF games other than their own. Lightning does not belong in other games nor would she add much to them.

Anywho if its just a nod to the character like someone dressed as her or maybe getting her in your party by some secert means (they did it with cloud)I dont really see why everyone is freaking out.I actually like her she ones of my favorite female FF characters but as I said before it should only fit the 2 way I mentioned.

IIRC she is super popular in Japan, consistently topping polls on favorite characters. For Square she really is their female Cloud.

She will most definitely appear in Kingdom Hearts 3 though I doubt elsewhere. Perhaps a future Tactics game?

I would love to see Lightning appear in Kingdom Hearts 3. I think she is great character wasted in some some dull games. I actually liked the character even though I didn't like FFXIII.

He had almost no dialogue in FF7 except the simple yes or no choices and the typical nod/body motions that came with the genre at the time. Cloud had no personality tell Crisis Core and Advent Children.

I played the crap out of FF7 on multiple playthroughs, I know Cloud was pretty much a mute during FF7. Comparing him to Lightnings dialogue, it's not even close on how much she actually takes part in a conversation compared to FF7 Cloud.

The most important part was clouds withdrawal actually made sense within the story, he wasn't a very sociable guy but he had reasons.

Don't really have a problem with Lightning's character herself, it's just the shit story and universe that surround her that makes her not very memorable. I mean, Lightning might actually be a good character if she wasn't in FFXIII.

Super, super niche community that actually likes this character. I personally think that she is a horrible character in a terrible trilogy. Toriyama needs to lose his job for the sake of the series because he hasn't got a fucking clue what he is doing and looks to anime cliches and 5 year old style writing in games. I'd even rather Tidus or Vaan return in future games than this.

Lightning beat out all the other FF female characters in fan polls. But the problem is that you can't sell an entire game by relying on a character's popularity alone. For an FF game, it's way more important to get the gameplay and story right, which Square Enix have consistently failed to do with the XIII games.

She's pretty much the female equivalent to Cloud: a strong "badass" super-soldier. But other than that, she comes across as a bit of a shallow character. However, like I said above, some don't seem to realize just how many fangirls that Lightning has, because of the whole 'girl power' fantasy she provides (although sexualizing her somewhat in Lightning Returns didn't seem to go down too well).
