Level 5 announces Dark Cloud 3 for PlayStation 4

Recently, Level-5 has had smashing succes with the recent release of Ni No Kuni, a collaboration between animation studio Ghibli and videogame company Level-5.

Speaking to Akihiro Hino, CEO of Level-5, he said "There is strong evidence that is a request for a line of work like previous titles in our portofolio", as a petition on a fanmade Facebook page for Dark Cloud suggests. He continued that "The White Knight Chronicles-series did not do as well as we had planned and our recent succes with Ni No Kuni suggest we should move our next-generation games in that direction. We're not announcing a Ni No Kuni 2 as our collaboration ended with the release of the game but we're looking to revive past titles." It is true that White Knight Chronicles received a very average critical reception and the company recently announced that they are shutting down the online servers for White Knight Chronicles. While the blockbuster franchises like Professor Layton and Inazuma Eleven will continue to remain on handheld devices, there could be a reinvigoration for console titles.

"Sony contacted Level-5 about a possible next-gen game," which is no surprise as Level-5 was one of the prominently listed publishers in in the Playstation 2013 Meeting.

Finally, the first good thing these guys have done since the PS2 (well, I guess not counting Ni No Kuni).  

And even better, they announced it as a PS4 title, instead of doing some f*ck sh!t and making it a PS3 game this late in the gen.  I enjoyed this series on the PS2.  Edit:

Level 5 publishes its own games now in Japan, and is starting to in the west. I can't see them making a Dark Cloud 3, they have become way more independent than they once were.

all the best news alway come on April 1. Megaman X9. Capcom vs SNK 3, Deus Ex sequel, Shenmue 3 announced... I mean, don't game developers realize how much gamers want these games that they use them as April Fools' jokes? Yet they ignore them.

Just look at Toonami's comeback joke from last year. It started as a joke and now it is one of the most successful blocks on Cartoon Network with almost 2 million viewers every Saturday...

People want MMX9 (there's even a domain since the early 2000's just dedicated to MMX9 for god's sake! And Capcom's still saying that there is not enough fan support even though MMX wins every single poll too for a next gen remakes every time! But they rather remake Ducktales...),

people want CvS3 (people even wear CvS3 t-shirts at tournaments yet Capcom comes and makes SFxT, it flops and then they blame the fans),

people want Shenmue 3,

people want DE sequels,

people want Dark Cloud,

etc.
