There is nothing wrong with motion blur. It was only after this game showed up that detractors of the game seem to now have a problem with it. It's ridiculous.

I don't know though, watching guerilla interviews... it still seems like they're newbies to the genre, and also that their main goal is cinematic feel, rather than gameplay.

In that game, some of the monsters seemed to be almost CGI quality, but some of the things in the game were like PS2 textures in 720p, while most stuff fit somewhere in between. But they're cheap tricks, that's the point. The game doesnt have any raw visual fidelity like Uncharted or Gears. Instead, it looks good because everything is blurry and fuzzy and lo-res. If you stop at any point it all just falls apart, hence why sometimes the screens can look fugly because you'll get a shot of a poorly textured character model covered to heck with fuzz.
