Well, MP arcade mode is what most people play anyway.
But still has single player offline modes available when the game launches:
Killer Instinct will feature offline play as well in the form of Survival and Dojo Modes.
“Survival is like our endless mode,” Fornace said. “The way it works is you pick a difficulty and you go in, and you’re basically playing a long chain, and after each match you regenerate health, but as you go on you generate less and less, and even if you do beginner difficulty, as you get to the higher numbers the CPU does start getting tougher, so you’ll still hit a limit.
“You set your difficulty to where you’re at – so if you set it to Champion it’ll start hard and get even worse.
“The Dojo is our big tutorial mode. We’re teaching you about Killer Instinct, but we’re also trying to teach you about fighting games in general, and their terminology, because often you’ll hear people talk about fighting games, and you know they just don’t know what they’re talking about.”
Because the game has only been in development for about a year and Double Helix has been focusing on the core gameplay and the characters.
Not technically correct. It will arrive at the end of Season 1, along with Fulgore the last Season 1 character. If you can't understand why they need to wait till all the Season 1 characters are released before releasing Arcade Mode, well...

After years of having no exclusives they will settle for anything. Look at them hyping up shovelware like Ryse.
I care that Titanfall doesn't have any SP. I could care less if some fighter does not.
So you could care less if a fighter has SP - thats means you care a little. Thats nice to know.

Says you. It's not possible to play any fighting game competitively via online. Most fighting games like SF, Tekken and VF boil down to singular digit frames (ie. you have less than 10 frames, 1/6 of a second) to execute your moves. The online latency completely kills it. That's why you either play it in the arcades or invite a friend over.
Because the game has only been in development for about a year and Double Helix has been focusing on the core gameplay and the characters.
For console fighters, SP arcade IS 50% of the core gameplay. The other 50% is the versus mode. Those two modes are the only ones that really matter.
