I mean, with the new jasper consoles, and the possiblity of a slim 360 being unveiled soon (think E3ish), can we say that the RROD fiasco is mostly in the past? and can we stop using the RROD as some kind of reason why someone should not buy a 360, because if they buy a new 360 nowadays, chances are their not going to get a RROD. It seems like people just like to keep making RROD jokes because apparently its the cool thing to do, but people need to realize that the problem is pretty much fixed at this point if you buying a new console. Sure, if you have a old 360, you might have problems, but for new consumers, I think its very misleading for people to tell them not to get a 360 because of RROD.I think if a slim 360 hits, RROD is really going to be a thing of the past mroe so than it is now.

If there was something to talk about I think the PS3 fanboys would talk about it.

We don't know if it's over or not.

Being able to keep a product from breaking for 1 year, 2 years even, that may meet "industry standards", but surely, that doesn't meet my definitions as a consumer of being reliable or fixed.

Posters say it's over, but there is no proof it's over.

I got my buddy to buy a 360 this last Xmas, and he just got RROD a few days ago. He called me up, because I told him about Jasper, etc. He was angry because that's why he waited to buy a 360 in the first place.

All I'm saying is, we can't say it's over, we just have to wait and see how it plays out. Maybe my buddy is an isolated case, or maybe the percentage has gone down, but I'm not going to buy into PR.

My Halo Xbox 360 got E74, and that was a newer model. There are RE5 360's that got RROD I've seen in person. So, it's hard to say if it's over or not.

What we can say is that that problem, and E74 get a 3 year warrantly and leave it at that.

I definately don't think it's as big a problem anymore. It's undoubtedly still there, but nothing compared to the beginning of the gen.

Still, there are many, many consoles out there still at risk of the RROD.

If it still RRODs, it still is an epidemic, and boy my old Jasper got RRODed. It still exists, and ANYONE getting a 360, should buy one knowing that they are not safe from it.

It still exists, but it's not as big of an issue as it once was.

And as far as my word will go (nowhere in the real world :P ) I've got a handful of friends with 360's and they enjoy it enough to say they're not concerned with the possibility of RROD happening to their system. My friend has already had it happen once or twice, but he enjoys the game selection so much that he is still 100% behind the Xbox.

I would think that if it was fixed, MS would make some kind of announcement saying so, rather than just a bunch of posters on forums guessing.

I know you're a big fan of 360, so everytime your feelings get hurt when someone mention rrod, just tell them how much it sells despite the hardware failure, but rrod still exist, sorry

Yeah prob not as much but I wouldn't for sure know since my Jasper has been going strong for quite sometime but atleast MS owned up to it unlike the infamous DRE and the upside down PS1 days...but nothing will be worst than blowing those Nintendo cartridges time after time. Best gen by for for stability was the 16 bit era. My SNES and Genesis still work after all these years.

Had bought a arcade a few weeks ago, only to get E74 error, and I sent in for replacement. Now the fans have stopped working, and it will overheat in 10 minutes. I say it's far from over. Just got boring to talk about I guess.

So if you bought an Xbox 360 you have a good chance that you may not get Red Ring?

I hope not.

Doesn't change the fact every 360 ever bought still has a good chance of RROD, bringing out a new model doesn't magically fix every other 360 that exists.

word of advice, tell your friend to check it's a jasper, there is still a huge backlog of falcons, if you look through the square in the box you should be able to see the sticker above where the power cable plugs into the 360, look directly above whwre it say's 'made in china' there should be 3 sets of numbers, the first being 12V, ignore that it's the second number that you want, if it says 14.2A it's a Falcon, if it says 12.1A, it's the fabled jasper unit, i made gamesation fetch 9 360's before they managed to find me a jasper, and that was in november just gone, lol

On the newest 360s it's not a serious problem anymore. I'd say RROD is a thing of the past for the most part.

the recent study all so took place over a years time, and did not survey new owners only it surveyed every one regardless no proof of ownership and no time at which the system was purchased. just whether or not they had had a 360 fail on them.

your wish is my command! "Fortunately, SquareTrade found that Xbox 360 quality has improved dramatically since the third quarter of 2008, shortly before the 65nm CPU/GPU "Jasper" model was introduced. Since then, first-year failure rates have plummeted to below the 4 percent the company projected. Looking at 500 units purchased in 2009, SquareTrade found that less than 1 percent had suffered the Red Ring of Death." http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6216691.html

some of ur claims are very strange, why would MS sacrifice the x360 reputation in order to sell the remaining faulty ships ???? by 2012 or 2013, the new xbox would be on the shleves for sales, what is the point ???

as long as you have a jasper model, take decent care of your 360 (give it breathing room between wall etc. and back of console, don't leave it on for extended periods of time) and try to install games as much as possible, the risk of RROD is minimal

I would say its on par with the failure rates of the Wii and Playstation

A combination of new versions and being able to install games seems to have removed most concerns with the RROD. The system runs at a much cooler temp now. I say that as a person who has experienced the RROD 4 times *shakes head*

jesus christ mate, it's not a huge amount to ask, it's just common sense

i might as well have put down " don't put your 360 in the microwave or try to dismantle it with a chainsaw "

any fool would be able to prevent it breaking nowadays

I have had 5 consoles die on me.

1) NES

2) PS2

3) PS2

4) PS2

5) PS3

My 360 is still going strong after 4 years now and I haven't had a single problem with it. I only know of one person who got the RROD but that was because his dog knocked his 360 off a table.

I would say its on par with the failure rates of the Wii and Playstation

wanna me to change the x360's diaper as well ????

jesus christ mate, it's not a huge amount to ask, it's just common sense

i might as well have put down " don't put your 360 in the microwave or try to dismantle it with a chainsaw "

any fool would be able to prevent it breaking nowadays

it's a common sense for x360 owners, not for me, you want x360 owners to reduce their usage and have massive HHD to install games whenever is possible to reduce the risk, and yet RROD isn't preventable. common sense = MS not releasing the console till it's 100% competant .

XboximusPrime

latest results show 360 errors are still high in around like 45% so no they haven't fixed it yet.

MS needs to make sure the Disc Drives are much better in the slim model too. That thing is garbage in old models.
