Is Hellblade 2 the needed proof that games made for gamepass are a pass, and pure shovelware?

i'm an OG system wars guy who hasn't been on here in like over 10 years. back in the day, we only used GS scores for arguments, but it looks like we have moved on to Metacritic. is this true?

Only folks that refuse to play by the rules (both Lems and Cows) like to flip flop to MC.

Nowadays people just pick and choose which one matters more based on their biases.

Of course its not true, but when your game received a miserable score on GS, you move to other sites to damage control the situation. Not gonna help, tho, they did the same with Starfield, and now even the biggest Xbox channels on youtube call the game as a massive failure.

I think games made by Xbox team themselves is pretty shit I meam imagine buying xbox to play xbox exclusive that is the most braindead decision you could ever make.

But gamepass (and PS+) do have a great selection of games to play. I personally will sub a month of PC gamepass for games that interest me like the upcoming suikoden remaster (but more tempted to purchase physical on PS for that sweet Platinum Trophy tho).

Loving it so far, pretty much what I'd expected if you've ever played the first game.

All I gotta say is that if you loved the original then there's really no good reason not to like this one every bit as much. Just remember that just like the original this is a cinematic story driven psychologically immersive walking sim intermixed with serviceable combat and puzzles.

I actually think the combat despite being very much the same is a lot more gratifying and brutal this time around, and they did an excellent job with the motion capture there as well, a substantial improvement over the original and makes every fight and every kill feel unique. Add to that its stunning visuals, complimented by an every bit as accomplished audio design, and the overall seamless construction of everything, it all really captivates you, if you let it.

It's still the same physical and emotional romp through grief, guilt, mustering the energy to push on despite constantly being beat down. It's a gritty game in many ways. Visually, emotionally. Senua's Saga does everything that Ninja Theory did right with Senua's Sacrifice and cranks it to 11.

Some people just don't know how to have fun perhaps. I knew how to set the mood. I waited for it to get dark out. I made myself a bubble bath, turned down the lights, lit some candles, slipped into something more comfortable, loaded greens, cranked the audio up, got my chips and soda and controller by my side, and my body is ready... wowza, I've been having a blast.

I would argue that some people like when games are games and not a poor version of a movie and/or game. Simply pushing forward is not engaging. It works out to be like holding the play button on a broken VHS in-order for a movie to continue to play.

Currently shifted to Alan Wake 2 and it is a better implementation.

@lamprey263: The game is exactly what I wanted from a sequel. It's just Hellblade improved in every single way.

My main concern after their acquisition was that Hellblade 2 was going to be turned into a another formulaic 3rd person adventure but I was wrong.

How many xbox site gave this game high score? Seems its very short of a game with alot of mix review. Anyway not my cup of tea.

Think that last bit is key, this is absolutely not my type of game so a 6 from where I'm sat is probably right, but someone who likes these walking sims is probably over the moon with this type of title.

@sonny2dap: That's actually something I really dislike in reviews. If "you" like a game genre, or not, should have little impact on a review. You cannot score a game low because you don't like "walking sims", you should review it based on what it aims to achieve and how successful is the execution of that vision.

Yeah, I can't imagine many pro-Xbox sites dinging 1st party games or console exclusives from this point on. The Xbox community is in desperation mode and will do whatever it takes to keep the ship from sinking. Even if it means over-inflating scores. Xbots talk about the Xbox tax when they give everything the Xbox curve. No way a walking sim game with zero replay value that's worse than the first scores over an 80.
