Is gaming dead?? Except for ps4?? (Sony??)

Sure, gaming from the late 80s till now has been great. *salutes* all companies with a tear in eye.

But where are we going from here? Oculus rift?? Virtual reality maybe??

Nintendo doesn't have too many games I am interested in. It seems like Sony, a giant company, only has the will to produce any coherent games. And I would include smartphone/tablet gaming as well.

Is it aaaaaaall over with?? If it isn't, please provide some game examples for Nintendo (the company I like most).

Oh and tell me how the standard video game industry will compete against PC and smartphones. (If that is even possible).

Sadly, gaming is alive much in the same manner George Lucas revived Starwars. For older, mature gamers experienced in the medium, it remains very much a irredeemable shambles.

Clearly this is reason enough to proclaim all non Sony gaming dead.

No? There have been many great games to come out not only this year, but previous years for all platforms. Bloodborne came out, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo 5, The Witcher 3, MGS V: TPP, Fallout 4, Ori and the Blind Forest, Rocket League, Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, Yoshi's Woolly World, etc. The PS4 may be the one that caters to you at the moment, but gaming is far from dead just because you don't find too many games interesting. I think VR will be interesting, but not something that dominates the market and really invests heavily in gaming, transforming systems and games to incorporate it. Also isn't the standard video game industry also PC? Mobile games may make a lot of money, but they sure aren't replacing gaming as we know it for a long time if ever.

The only thing dead is the Xbox brand and that's coming from a huge OG Xbox and 360 fan. Not sure what they will do after Halo 6... Halo: The Second Reach? Halo 7, 8 and 9?

I am still buying and playing Xbox 360 games, Wii and Wii U games, 3ds, Vita and PS4 games. No, I don't think it is all dead besides Sony.

@nyadc: When you have less games in quality and quantity than you are losing. You have to be vocal to control or at least influence this industry. You don't just eat up any crap they throw at you; speak up if you are not satisfied and there's a chance they'll listen to you. You are the one screwed up if you are willing to take everything they dump out of their rears.

I haven't been this disappointed since the original Wii. At least the Wii pump out quality exclusives to compliment my other hardware, however.

Objectively I'd say the PlayStation 4 is lacking in the quality department as far as having system owning games is concerned, it's got got a larger library but it's mostly just indie/JRPG filler that really nobody cares about mixed with a bunch of mostly average retail releases, the only standout is Bloodborne. Given that Bloodborne is the only standout and it's sold like 2 million copies, that leaves 28+ million bathing in complete mediocrity...

But here's the thing, you're one of those obscure people who seems to care about that filler, or so you lead on, probably leading on because you're a cow and have to act like they're the most important things on Earth. The irony is you still haven't proven that you even own a PlayStation 4 and have said that you only own two games for it, so glad those 700 games have worked out for you....

So taking anything you say into account is not only a waste of time, it's an exercise in futility.

Nintendo's certainly got a foot in the grave with their sorry selves . Everybody else is okay for now.

Nintendo just seems like they're trying to hold out until they can replace the Wii U, not investing much money into anything just waiting for the tide to pass.

Well then you and the 80 other people who own a PlayStation 4 for JRPG's and Indie games can have at it, I'd actually like some real PlayStation 4 games, good ones.

Doesn't ps4 have a bigger shooter lineup now? And taking most of the dlc deals that 360 used to have for multi plat shooters. Both consoles have diverse indie games, M$ is pushing more diversity these days it seems. It is true that most of the mid tier Japanese dev's will stick with their home brewed platforms so if you like those types of games, its one of the only extra diversity ps4 generally carries.

Gaming from PCs to home consoles are keeping gaming alive, not just the PS4.

What's the Xbone equivalent to Detroit, Horizon, TLG, God of War, TLoU or Uncharted? None that won't be on PC or PS4.

well horizon looks interesting, TLG isn't out yet, there is no ps4 game for the God of War yet, TLoU and Uncharted are shooters. I'm not sure what detroit is yet.

So what does sony have thats like fable legends, sea of thieves, scalebound.

PS4 and xbone are marginally different, either one of them have plenty of games to play, both are completely overshadowed by PC.
