No, only an ignorant would believe such bullshit. What David Cage creates are nothing more than cinematic adventure games. It's a sub-genre of the over 30 year old Adventure genre. It doesn't matter how popular it might get, it'll never replace the wealth of variety within the gaming industry, because regardless what sci fi flicks will tell you, the variety of genres have only expanded with time, they haven't decreased.
And that's because the human mind is imaginative and creative. That will never stop. Hence why gaming will never be predominantly like that or in a 'virtual reality' type a thing. It will happen, but it'll have a market as large as Kinect, at most.
If your future of gaming is the death of variety and forever playing a couple of genres, you should be ashamed of yourself.
