I believe Miyamoto said himself that he will never use Cinematic cutscenes. Unless I am miss understanding what Cinematic scope means
HD Zelda can only happen when the console it is on is HD capable. Which will happen sometime next year (the HD console I mean, a Wii U zelda probably wont happen until 2013 at the earliest)
Personally I like how they have the world set up the Zelda games.
Why are they comparing Zelda, an adventure game, to Skyrim, an RPG anyway? HD will be nice Wii-U era. The only thing Im on the fence about in Zelda is voice-acting. Im just not sure whether the series really needs it, or if it would ruin it. But I do agree that Link should never talk. NPC voice actors only.I wonder if IGN ever gets tired of being wrong.

Agree on this three
Zelda is way to linear as an adventure game.

For the open world, I'd only want one if it had lots of things to do (TP tried this and failed). I'd rather have a smaller world that is densely packed with material.
Some customization is good, but I don't want it to be as extensive as an RPG like Skyrim. In Skyward Sword, I believe you can customize your shields (and maybe other items as well). That's good enough for me.
Zelda stories suck. I agree.
HD is the way to go.
They did a good job of being cinematic in TP, but I don't want it to be full of cutscenes like in certain other series.

I haven't played many Zelda games 'cept the N64 ones, but I thought they were open enough (like Hyrule Field). Personally I find huge worlds such as those in Fallout 3 and Oblivion to be dull.[QUOTE="lbjkurono23"][QUOTE="i3DS"]

Personally I find huge worlds such as those in Fallout 3 and Oblivion to be dull.I'm not asking for giant worlds ala fallout/oblivion(that would get tiresome). How about adding secret dungeouns(optional to encourage exploration).
I always laughed when I read explore hyrule, it's one small sized land(hyrule field) conected to 7 tiny stages.
They really need to address that on the wiiu zelda games, I want to explore the world in a adventure game, not follow set path.
The ign article is talking about a wiiu tittle, wich is capable of HD. Read the article peeps(or at least take a glance).
"There's no doubt that Zelda, for all its remarkable accomplishments and perfected methods of design, could try some new things as it prepares to move into an HD era"
1. No
2. Clearly did not play Windwaker or Phantom Hourglass
3. Oblivion's story was NOT epic and Bethesda failed in FO3 so bad, they needed a DLC to fix it
4. Maybe, but i do not play Zelda games for graphhix

Hm, I think they're right with these suggestions. Voice acting needs to be added, too. Can't stick with the same old Zelda formula; Twilight Princess proved that this doesn't work.

Funny thing is Skyward sword is already making the world more open and seamless and giving it more weapon customization options. But most people tend to overlook those details in favor of shouting "hurr durr rehash!"Funny thing is Skyward sword is already making the world more open and seamless and giving it more weapon customization options. I'm talking about the people dismissing skyward sword as a rehash without doing their homework I've done my homework and watched plenty of videos. Still skeptical, to say the least. Expectations are pretty low. I'm hoping it surprises me.then why bother listing it as one of the 5 things? The ign article is talking about a wiiu tittle, wich is capable of HD. 1) Doesn't need to be any more open than OoT was. Padding your game with cookie-cutter dungeons and sidequests isn't an improvement over linearity. They need to break up the childhood link training area->forest temple->fire temple->water temple->lather rinse repeat formula, but open-world isn't the solution there.
2) I can't beleive I gave IGN a pageview to hear their explanation of this one. Zelda's more a puzzle game than anything else (granted you could say that about pretty much any game, but Zelda is super-puzzly when you look beneath the surface), and letting Link upgrade the Master Sword to the +1 Master Sword of Grinding isn't going to improve that style of gameplay.
3) Wait, what? How do we know Skyrim has an epic story? How weren't some of the prior Zelda titles pretty damn epic in the story department? Bueller?
4) Duh. Way to go out on a limb there, IGN.
5) I'd agree, but I think IGN has a very different definition of "cinematic". Probably something that involves slow motion takedowns and lens flare...YIKES.
[QUOTE="lbjkurono23"]then why bother listing it as one of the 5 things? Thats boring, I want a zelda game where you actually get to explore. If IGN wants a Zelda like adventure with cues from Skyrim, they could just mod their Skyrim to make their character an elf boy in green tights.

Then play a Zelda game as is. Asking for the game to "evolve" by mimicking what's trending now is a terrible idea, and IGN is clearly not caring as they fish for hits. If you feel the Zelda formula is going stale, then perhaps it's you the gamer that should move on and find a new series.
And I don't mean you personally, I mean generally speaking.
Oh boy, IGN does it again...there is a reason i don't go there at all...well, only because the IPL, but aside from that...Lol IGN.

I don't want zelda to mimic skyrim or any other game, I want the game to have a more vivid world for us to explore, instead of getting 7 mini maps. It's also lacking in interactivity with the world, how about improving on what they built for majoras mask.I don't want zelda to mimic skyrim or any other game, I want the game to have a more vivid world for us to explore, instead of getting 7 mini maps. It's really disappointing. Seeing how Mario has thrived while changing things up.That's not to say Zelda hasn't tossed up the formula before (AoL, MM, WW, FSA, ST), but it seems everytime they do, the fickle fans complain, and this discourages Nintendo from expanding on the concept further.
