How much does it cost to be a PC Gamer?

All joking aside. Let's say I want to Play games like Battlefield 4, Day Z, Arma, That new Wildstar MMO balls out. I want to go up to Best Buy right now, buy a PC that will run everything at the best settings. I want to go home and play tonight.

How much is it going to cost me and none of that "Build Your Own" nonsense. Just show me the lap top or tower that can do this and tell me how much. Don't need a monitor or mouse or any of that extra stuff.

As much as you want. You can game on any basic PC, but that isn't to say you will be playing blockbuster games. Choose what you want to play, and plan accordingly.

Edit: DIdn't read your post lol. Still, Best Buy sells performance computers.

I'd say if you spent a grand you would have a great rig, capable of playing AAA games at highest settings.

2 grand or so for PS4 level performance.

Under 500 posts. Some consolites are taking the PC dominance way too harshly.

Since you don't want to build a superior computer for what you would be paying for a pre-built pos. I'd advise you should stay with consoles.

LOL, store bought desktop PC's. Probably 1000 or more for a proper gaming laptop or PC.

PC gaming is expensive, there's really no beating around the bush. People who say it's cheaper than console gaming is blowing big smoke up your arse.

@SolidGame_basic: Meh. There's simple math that shows that console gaming is more expensive than PC throughout a consoles life cycle. But obviously bringing up math in system wars would blow some peoples brains.

@silversix_: Not even to build. He is going to bestbuy to buy a pre-built PC.

Don't buy a pre-built. Go on Newegg and build one yourself. It's much cheaper and you can get a better PC. I know you don't want to hear that but it's the best option.

You can probably run all games currently maxed out @ 1080p with this.

Depends on spending and gaming habbits. But i'll agree that PC can be 2x more expensive. At least it is for me. But that's ok.

Most look at it and say "PC gaming is twice as expensive as console gaming"

I look at it and say "Console gaming is cheaper, but gives so little compared to PC that it's not worth the price".

it's actually the cheapest way to game, which is why it's a great draw for the low income gamer

Well it really is more of a "System Wars" thread. My oldest kid (12) has been wanting a PC Power Rig for a while now. I argue that we could go and purchase 2 more Ps4's and have a total of 3 Ps4's to play games together with for less than a single power rig.(Me & the two kids, That's how we play X360 now, 3 systems, 3 screens, 3 XBOX Live accounts).

So are you seriously saying I can't go to Best Buy and drop $600.00 bucks, leave with nothing but a Tower and it still won't play AAA Games on high? Am I right or wrong in my argument with him?

All that money for what? Just 1 PC that can run AAA Games? Whatever happened to this Steam Box thing? I thought they were going to be cheap...why not just release a Steam App on Ps4?

Anyways, if you have free time... building a PC for a 600$ budget would exceed PS4's hardware... but, as I said not sure if you are serious.

I am very serious, however, being in my 40's and very busy (i.e. no time) I really prefer to not build my own. I have built plenty in the past. (Last one I built was when Battlefiel 2 launched). I just figured with Tablets being the new things, Lap Tops actually becoming the old thing and Towers being the super old thing I could grab a Gaming "Tower" at the store that is ready to rock, run some games balls out.

Like I mentioned in this thread this is an argument I have been having with my oldest kid. So you guys are actually validating what I thought.

Every console gamer owns a PC or two or three.....Where the PC Gamer refuses to own a console.

If a console gamer wants to play something on PC he does...where the PC Gamer refuses to even consider ever playing anything on Console because he has some strange loyalty...or just feels stupid because he spent $4,200.00 on a power rig a year ago that now has the same "Power" of a $500.00 Lap Top at Walmart today...so he is in entrenched in his views and irrational.

Plus I'm sure someone was mean to him on XBOX Live and it hurt his feelings.
