And have yet to find the IP losing its appeal? I played Resident Evil since #1 but will not purchase another one after 6, I did love Revelations though. Street Fighter has started losing its charm and after playing Tatsunoko Vs Capcom it seems so slow and very little substance, same goes for the Marvel Vs series. GTA was fun when I was 13 with birds eye view but has become boring to me over the years and especially since 3. Medal of Honour was alright back in the day.

My conclusion is I can think of 1 game which is Tekken which since #1 still keeps me coming back which is 18 years. I may think of more as time passes but off the top of my head that is all.

Tomb Raider and GTA.

Killzone, it never had any appeal and it still has none so they're doing a good job with consistency.

But for real stuff like Bioshock and the Batman games are good examples, obviously they're quite new which helps but the fact they haven't released a game every year for the past 8 years like some series have helps.

As for super old franchises Nintendo probably has the best long term ones that are still appealing (I've not played any of them from the start since I wasn't even born when games like SMB came out). Again though their release schedule is what helps, you typically get one big series entry per console, and spin offs for Mario.

Resident Evil is definitely loosing its appeal. Others on the list included Tomb Raider until the recent reboot, Mortal Kombat until its reboot, Sonic the Hedgehog is basically dead, Mario after the SNES, and the most recent IP is Assassins Creed. I need a break from it. It should have never been annualized.

Most of my favorite franchises (or single games) either were discontinued or never had a sequel. The obvious choices sit within the Mario franchise, I guess Metal Gear would be on there since it has been around since the NES days.... however a lot of the MGS games just are not fun for me. Marvel vs. Capcom is still great as well as many fighting game franchises like MK, and Street Fighter. Sports games have remained strong. I agree that most game franchises have lost some luster, mostly due to the fact that graphics are all anybody seems to care about these days.

I'm a die hard Metal Gear fan and I've played and completed every game in the series. Canonical and spin-offs with the exception of Metal Gear Arcade and Social Ops as those where never released here in the US.

Still not sick of the series.

Probably Street Fighter. I love almost everything about this series. Recently watched Assassin's Fist, and the flame is still burning strong. Listening to the end credits of Street Fighter II always brings a warm smile to my face.

**** it, time to watch the animated movie for the 10th time. Might as well give the Fatal Fury movies another go, been years.

I've played many legacy franchises since the first installment but I've already stopped playing many of them, including GTA or Resident Evil (I skipped 5, 6 and Operation Raccoon City altogether). Legacy of Kain is a brilliant franchise btw. I think Halo is one franchise (I haven't played 2, though) which I found to be consistently engaging (yes, even Halo Wars) Fallout series (I haven't played New Vegas, though), Arkham games (I haven't played Origins nor do I count it as a part of the series), and The Witcher,

Right on. I love legacy of Kain, even bought them on Steam. I played Res Evil 5,6 co op because an Army buddy was a massive fan. We had fun, but it was like KSR in that it wasn't the game so much as it was a good time with a friend. Halo well I am a big fan. All material I check out and love the games. I also had some fun with HW. Fallout NV is fun. Arkham origins is a fun game dude. I got Origins, Asylum, and City for $25 on steam one weekend so it was well worth it to me. And if you like the open world being Batman, as this old comic head does, its worth a play.

You gotta face it.

I only read about it. Thought it was an MMO set in Nosgoth with different classes of humans and vampires to play as.

Well it's f2p... I think you can simply try it. It's more like a 4 vs 4 TDM with ranged and melee. One side plays humans and they are weaker and predominantly ranged, one side plays vamps and they can climb everything. The vampires feel a little like the special zombies in L4D. You have a Reaver who is like a Hunter. He can pounce people and blind them. One is a tanky dude. The Sentinel can fly and kidnap dudes and the Deceiver is like a vamp rogue/spy.

Forgot to add that their money model and inventory system suck right now but they are probably going to modify it a lot, and there will likely be more cIasses as time goes on.
