How did Skyward Sword get a Perfect 10 at IGN but crappy 7.5 at GS?

one company telling me this is perfect game thats never been beat in its genre

the other ones say this games its 7.5 dont buy it

this leaves me in a situation where i got i dont buy 7.5 games but i do buy 10/10 games

so what am i to do?

does the game fall somewhere in between how could they be so off i dont get it who was right who was wrong is the game a or 7ish game what is it?

IGN overates their games, and GS underates them. SS is neither a 10 nor a 7.5 IMO its a 8.5

Also a 7.5 does not say don't buy it, it's a "decent" score. I've enjoyed lots of 7.5 games.

Also, you shouldn't take too much stock in any reiview. Use them as a guideline.Read the reiview, not the score.

It's a different opinion. I personally love the game. One of the best this gen.

Different staff, different people, different opinions -- easy. Can't decide on your own if you want it? Doesn't sound like you really want it then. Save your money.

The game is great. Play it.

Well on one side you had a fanboy, and then on the other you had a dumbass, so there you go. I'd give it a 9.0, but I can see why someone would rate it in the AA territory. Still, it's one of my favorite games this gen by far.

No, if a game is bad they'd give it less than 5. Gamespot just uses the scale from 7 and up.

Here's a radical solution: Stop basing your decisions around the arbitrary scores that some nerds on the Internet give to a piece of entertainment. If you absolutely have to check some reviews before you buy a game, go with independent reviewers that are intelligent enough to review games without giving them grades, like Cl4ssic Game Room.

Short answer: GS' review keyed on the "established formula" Zelda relies on. So, if you've liked previous Zelda games, you will probably like this one. Just don't expect it to be different at its core.

IGN felt it was one of the best interpretation's of what a Zelda game aims to be. GS felt it was too similar to other iterations to feel like it was its own game and had its own identity.

Because Tom wanted a specific game, he didn't get it so he took it out on Skyward Sword. His entire aftermath damage control was pretty awful.

Nope, its not like I blindly decide to buy any game above a certain score. Its just I simply wont even research or consider any game below an 80 MC. There are too many good games for that. Infact, I barely got time to play the 90+ MC games.

I'm going to assume you are serious... I will also assume that you don't look at reviews, just meaningless scores. Under the "7.5" that GS gave SS, there is a word, a word that reads "good." If good is crappy to you, then that is your prerogative. If you have unreasonably high standard, then that is your prerogative.

The rating scale is from 1.0 - 10.0... not 8.5 - 10.0 like some people seem to think.

Why not just use the sites you trust the most and go from there? Metacritic is kind of useless for the most part.
