Holy Crap Where Did the 360s Lead Go?!

360 lead is almost down to only 3 million. How in the world did the 360 lose its 1 year lead?

Is the Wii selling that good or did the 360 sell that bad?

Lets see what happens to Wii60 when Wii takes the lead.

10 mil in a year isn't bad, but I know both Sony and Nintendo will do better than that.

I personally expect the Wii to overtake the 360 this year. I think PS3 will overtake 360 by mid next year and overtake the Wii by late 2008 - mid 2009.

Great appeal to non gamers is the main reason. I'm glad it's selling well because I like Nintendo's innovative attitude to the market but I'm not happy with the current/upcoming games for the console so I hope Nintendo gets their act together.

It's still in the lead. I'll wait for NPD numbers, neither of those 3 sites are credible IMO. The Wii is selling very well though at this time (in the future is unknown). PS3, heh, not so much. Who knows though. Puckhog04

It's already successful. As for winning? Heh, anything can happen. I don't presume to know the future.

Again, i don't presume that any of those 3 sites are accurate since all have difference information claiming the same exact thing, "ours is accurate". When NPD announces the numbers then i'll comment. Only thing that i know for sure is the 360 is in the lead. Does it matter? No, not at all. Is the Wii selling well? Sure, atm it is. Are the 360 and PS3 selling well? Yep, the 360 has been selling steadily well everywhere except Japan since launch and the PS3 is picking up sales as well. That's about all that matters IMO.

Don't worry , Microsoft's plan is to get half of the current userbase to buy the elite this year. the sad part is that they probably will.

Japanese support certainly helps, almost 2 million difference there.

Otherwise, a lot of it is wider market appeal.

You seem to forget the system just had to comepete with in total of 2 mill. new consoles, it has no killer IP's launched yet, and there is no price drop yet. Oh and Japan just not liking the 360.

When the price drops it will get better, have alot of commercials running for big games like halo or Mass Effect, and it should get better soon for MS.

Halo 3 will help keep the 360's lead in this year 2007,however i expect the wii and maybe the ps3 to overtake (considering the Successful European launch).

However even if the 360 does end up 3rd it's still good for Microsoft,when considering the last gen where Microsoft lost $3 billion.

This chart is very inaccurate. And besides, I have a Wii60 so I win no matter what. And the Wii sales will slow down, its only a matter of time before people realize that all your gonna get is Mario Mario and more Mario.jfkunrendered

The Wii is selling really well. Nintendo really knew what they were doing when they designed the console. The 360 still has a very healthy lead on the PS3 and that's important for development support as we have seen with VF5, DMC 4 and Ace Combat 6 now coming to 360. The Wii and 360 have some overlap in their markets but not as much as the PS3 and 360. So it's the one MS really needs to stay ahead of to continue to get the type of developer support they have been getting. Games sales are important too and the 360 performs well there.Paktahn

The only thing I disagree with is: As long as Microsoft wins over the PS3, they will have enough staying power and enough fanbase for developers to see their value in the gaming market. Both Ps3 and 360 offer a great product. The problem is that their product is to similar and someone has to come out on top.

One thing is for sure nintendo looks like they did the right thing going for $250 going by sales. What's scary is the wii imo has crappy games so what will happen when it gets good games. Ms is in a tight spot with the wii on one side and the ps3 selling almost 2 to 1 in the same time frame as the 360.

This holiday season could be critical for the 360's success at this rate.

I see it looking bad for PS3...the 360 sold...4 million by march? and the PS3 just hit 2.5 thanks to the UK launch. Halo 3 should boost sales along with all the other AAA`s coming out on 360 this year and the next.
