Get your Microsoft points ready folks! March 2011

From Bnet:

"Hopefully things make a little more sense for you this morning. Yup, there's a brand spanking new map pack coming for Halo: Reach next month. It includes two Multiplayer maps and a Firefight mission, all lovingly crafted in partnership with Certain Affinity - we can't take any of the credit. Don't worry, though, we know a guy on the inside and he informs us that they do great work. You're in good hands."

That explains why they are coming so soon.

Relax man.

I don't know who Certain Affinity are but I didn't like the trailer. Very un-Halo/un-Bungie like.

Still,it obviouslywon't put me off buying the maps.

LOL @ comparing it to PSP killzone and MGS4 online. Try GT5's logged in single player users.

Very un-Halo / un-Bungie like.

Considering that Bungie hasn't really made any memorable maps since Halo 2, that's probably a good thing :P

Well, with all due respect, I beg to differ sir. I may be in the minority but all the invasion maps in Reach are some of the best Halo maps I've ever played.

Hopefully one of these new maps will be compatible with Invasion.

The only map in Reach that I particularly like is Reflection, which is a remake of a Halo 2 map :?

That actually looked really good. I'm interested to download them if only to see how a non-Bungie map pack will play out. Kind of exciting.

Now, the next DLC had better have a single player mission. And I want it to be the one that shows us what happens to Jun after he splits off from the rest of Noble Team to go with Halsey. I heard in the Legendary Edition it's detailed for you in the book, but I don't buy CE's and LE's and SE's and all that useless crap. I want me a mission! A mission of that caliber would make me happy. :D It's good to see a new Firefight map though!

According to Wikipedia, it seems they specialise in map packs for some odd reason. They made Halo 2's Blastacular Map Pack, helped with Black Ops' First Strike and other things that I've now carelessly forgotten.

It seems the only game they've actually made is an Arcade/PSN game called Age of Booty or something ridiculous. I doubt it was very good.

EDIT: Age of Booty scored a respectable7.0 here around two years back. Unless you're 8 years of age, it'd probably be **** though.

Really Bungie? Really? Instead of fixing your game and having a Title Update done like in past Halos, you completely ignore the community's feedback and instead send us a map pack with only 2 MP maps for 800 points? No way am I buying this. I used to be loyal to Bungie, I kept being patient with Reach but that's just not happening anymore. Haven't played the game in weeks and I'm seeing the population decrease. Doesn't that tell you something, Bungie? You really think your precious game is so perfect that the thousands of blatant armor lock and bloom complaints should just be ignored? Wow. At least Halo 3 was fun. It was a simple-minded run n'gun shooter but it was fun. It had soul. It didn't feel like a chore playing it unlike this game. I've lost hope in Bungie. I can't believe I turned into one of these guys but unfortunately I did. Call me a whiney conceited arrogant Halo fanboy, I just can't deal with Bungie anymore.

I just did a search on Google (lazy bum :P) and it looks like the company was founded by former Bungie devs in 2006. They've worked on Halo 2 multiplayer maps, CoD World at War/Black Ops maps (apparently they get along with Treyarch), a downloadable game called Age of Booty, they made Halo Waypoint in conjunction with 343 Industries, they worked with Valve on the Xbox 360 version of Left 4 Dead (I suppose that means they did the port job) and they are working on some unannounced game with no publisher attached to it yet.

seriously invasion lol? no their best game in terms of maps was halo 2 easily. halo 3 produced a few gems, but reach doesn't have any great map like all the others did. U know bungie tho, they could care less.

bungie has been like this for years, did u not read their take on their melee system. It's as if they think we're toddlers who can't understand how the melee system works. I know how it works, there's just a lot better alternatives. Bungie has been downhill since halo 2 in terms of game mechanics, and since 3 they've gotten lazy, same features different campaign in reach pretty much.

a majority of the game..........at least competitively. Really, they need to fix the bloom (not 100% consistent), maybe go 100% hitscan besides 80 or 90, and fix the armor abiltiies. Reach just has so many problems on default, but that's why i play the mlg list.

i agree, tho u can argue grenades and jumping are fine the other issues drastically can alter a game.

Strangely enough my copy had been untouched for weeks and I got the CE at launch. Only in the last week have I gotten back into it and I can tell its gonna be my go-to game for the next good while at least. Its far more feature rich and deep than many other FPSs out there and don't worry, it still has a very healthy population at peak times.

I wouldn't call you whiny but I find it funny that on one side you get people saying " Its too much of the same after 3 Halo titles, we want something different" and on the other side you have " Its way too different, why couldn't they give us more of the same".

Armor Lock can be easily countered and bloom requires more time and skill than just spraying bullets and having them miraculously hit.

All in all, I think people complain far too much and about the most trivial things. Armour Lock et cetera are such small elements of the overall package, that I think they're easy to forget about. And IIRC, is there not a playlist without any Armour Abilites for the purists?

Sorry, that whole block of text was well off-topic.

armor lock overpowers a single ability and allows someone who should've died to stay alive despite their poor selection of play. Bloom does add skill, but bungie's bloom isn't 100% consistent and the mlg community have proposed several ways to fix the bloom to make it like shadowrun. there's alot wrong with the game that people just don't notice because they're "well" not good enough to notice it.

At the end of the day no matter how many "core" gamers complain reach is the most played online console game at the moment, of course new map pack are gonna be released because people want it. Theres a reason why alot of MP games dont get the packs because they arent actually any good in the MP aspect

[QUOTE="Microsoft1234] Bungie has been downhill since halo 2 in terms of game mechanics, and since 3 they've gotten lazy, same features different campaign in reach pretty much.

Sorry, but out of all the devs in the world, you call out Bungie as lazy?!

They're anything but pal and I think you and I both know it.

I really hate the way people use the term "lazy devs" so lightly.

to be honest it sounds like cows trying to hate because they have nothing to stand up to halo in terms of MP

Reach is NOT the most played online console game.. Its numbers are a joke compared to Halo 3's numbers. And I'm not saying I want more of the same, I just want Halo to be fun again. 3 was fun, 2 was even more fun, why is Reach not as fun? IMO, I guess

[QUOTE="Arbiterisl33t69"]Haven't played the game in weeks and I'm seeing the population decrease. Doesn't that tell you something, Bungie? You really think your precious game is so perfect that the thousands of blatant armor lock and bloom complaints should just be ignored? Microsoft1234

Theres nothing "wrong" with a game just because a few people say so. YOU may think its wrong but I don't. That still doesn't make it wrong.

I know very little about MLG but as far as I can tell, they're a bit of a joke. If they said the sky was purple would you agree?

Finally I don't know what you're getting at with putting "well" in quote marks but if its some sort of an attempt at humour at my expense, its not very funny or clever, sorry.

but so many people disagree with you, you may not enjoy it as much but so many people do and because there will be demand for it some one will provide it

[QUOTE="Arbiterisl33t69"]Really Bungie? Call me a whiney conceited arrogant Halo fanboy, I just can't deal with Bungie anymore.AdobeArtist

If you actually read the first post you would have learned that this isn't by Bungie.....

Aside from that, what would a title update need to address?

I don't have a problem with Reach. I have fun with it and that's all that really counts. I think it's the best Halo multiplayer since Halo 2. Admittedly, I haven't played Reach in awhile. Bayonetta, Vanquish, Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 2 have taken up a substantial amount of game time from me. :P

I think it would be better if they made separate map packs for competitive and firefight modes respectively (i.e. 3 map competitive pack and 3 map firefight map). I have no use for a firefight map tbh. Still, the two maps look awesome and I'm not going to rule out a purchase yet.

I hope they just release this and the Noble Map Pack (and/or any new Map Packs for Reach) together for a Resonable Price...$10 for 3 maps is overpriced, and $15 for 5 is also overpriced (looking at you CoD).

Charging for maps is just lame anyways, with games like Halo and CoD it works since the communities are so large. But with smaller titles, half the people buy the packs and half just ignore them, so people miss out on great maps, and you can't find players in the DLC matchmaking >: (
