GT7 in bound 2014 and Santa Monica's PS4 title?

At present we have no details about this new IP from Santa Monica Studios, however a look at recent job listing posted by Santa Monica shed some light on this unannounced game.

The studio is currently looking for a

Senior Level Designerand a Senior technical Designerfor an unannounced title. Here is the list of requirement for the post:

• open world level design.
• ambient gameplay and side missions.
• navigation/platforming challenges.
• building 3D environments.
• modeling and texturing.
• designing and implementing fun/challenging AI layouts.
• scripting entities.
• Placing rough cameras, including animated and entity-triggered cameras.
• sound implementation.
• level warping and gameflow.
• cinematic placement and triggering.

Does this mean PS4 exclusive game from Santa Monica is an Open World game where players will be able to navigate or play side missions?.

The PS4 line up is shaping up nicely, Uncharted 4 announced, GT7 potentially in 2014 and Santa Monica doing an open world title sounds juicy but will probably be 2015 at the earliest. Seems possible Sony's first party might improve even further with the PS4 than it's strong output on the PS3.

I think 2014 for GT7 is wildly optimistic with how PD work unless they've been working on it for 3 years already.

Realistically i would say prob the second half of 2015 but im more than willing to have PD prove me wrong but i do think im safe with my assertion.

How about some Order 1886 gameplay first? Just saying.

But interested to see what Santa Monica's got in the works.

Aslong as there's no PS2 (PS3) cars and they don't sound like hairdryers it should be great.

there will be no PS2 cars but Yamauchi did hint on several interviews that PS3 cars were going to be the new standard cars on next gen sequels, and that's why they were trying to make them as detailed as possible.

He said they redone engine for GT6 so very likely they engineer for easy porting and development from ps3 to ps4. He is one of dev with most influence because GT sale so he knows idea of ps4 architecture long ago. I still do not believe 2014 however, late 2015 at earliest.

They need to get the first GT game of the gen out more quickly than last gen. It really soured me when they delayed it so many times.

Cerny has been going on about the ease of development and his "time to triangle" stuff for ages, maybe we'll see the fruits of that labour with GT. Their engine being more complete helps too, people seem to think there's this huge gap between all GT titles but it's only been 3 years between 5 & 6, pretty reasonable imo, GT5 only took so long because they built a new engine.

I'm sceptical with the number of cars they tend to use, i think they'd be best aiming for 500-600 cars and a few fewer tracks but given the way they were happy throwing out some PS2 cars it wouldn't surprise me if they were stubborn on that. Early 2015 seems plausible though. They need more focus too, they were too happy doing Nascar, Rally, go-karting and normal racing to get any of them really nailed down. I'd love a fleshed out Rally mode though.

Santa Monica is working on my game idea. The Figment Paradox. I wanted Bioware to do it but guess not.

SSMs game souns very promising. I think one of there games is a open world sci-fi game.

Yeah they gave the impression that the engine is really future proof. The assets in GT5 and GT6 are incredible, but are noticeably toned down for game play because the PS3 can't handle it.. Just some optimization for PS4, some new cars and new engine sounds and GT7 should be good to go.

Sells numbers say you are completely clueless on the subject you are commenting on. Nothing "niche" about those sells figures.

I don't think they would release it so soon after GT6. Even if they could.I think GT6 deserves a bit more time in the spotlight, even if it is for a different system.
