im not talking about GOW2 if there were some in the first they must not have been that great cause i do not remember them.

There wouldn't be a GOW without DMC...I like both games,DMC a little more,cause I like the character a bit more but GOW took the strengths of DMC and raised the bar with GOW...I'll always prefer to fight bad guys with a huge sword hacking my way through the game more so than the chained blades. I feel more control over Dante than I do Kratos.   DMC set the standard for action games, GOW raised that bar.

god of war is better than halo peeps and gears of war and its going to be better than killzone 2 and warhawk. their all shooting games its actioin so of course the beat em up action game is going to win.

I personally didn't like GOW a lot, but to call it trash is going to far. The graphics, music, and story are all great (even though the ending of the first game was predictable). I found the gameplay to be repetetive button-mashing that just got a little boring, which is why I won't be picking up GOW2. Trash it is not, though I personally wouldn't rate it higher than AA.

Hideo Kojima and Shigeru Miyamoto even praised GOW saying that it's one of the best games that successfully fused the game developing philosphies from the west and the east in making a successful formula that works. If they praised it and loved it than I think you're either mistaken, unaware, or just partial to how good and amazing GOW actually is.

GOW  is an amazing game if you don't like it thats fine, I'm abig fan of DMC but GOW is a great game as well.

I prefer DMC, but that doesn't make Gow trash, it is original, with great graphics and gameplay.

If you actually played one of the God of War games, you would've known that God of War, indeed, has  puzzles (that I find smart) mixed in with combat and even some small platforming elements. I do love Devil May Cry 3 (only one I played), but I have to disagree with you; I find God of War my favorite. I really think you only played five minutes of the game (if not at all), but that's me...

i thought the game graphically was extremely poor, technically it was impressive yes, but other than that the art direction and the character animation was simply BAD. the music in this game was much like the second and third installments of the POP series, they were just trying too hard to be "epic" till they just end up being all cheesy. the gameplay itself litrally had no depth than any action game out there, it was strictly a button masher. boss fights were good, but i myself don't like the whole "press one button only once to pull, cut and stab: nsequence, IMO it was entertaining but not mind blowing as games such as twilight princess and shadow of the colossus, which gave you complete control over the character. the story is great, IMO i think it's one of the best games to implement the whole greek mothology stories, and i like greek stories. overall i think it's a good game, but nothing extrodnary, boss fights just didn't appeal to me all that much, which is why i fear HS won't be my style as well. in the end, yeah i can see your point, god of war is overrated but i still need to play the second to reallly judge it, but To be honest now action genre is not my favorite genre so........ yeah ......

Ok I have (beaten) both DMC3, and just yesterday GoWII. I have to say, GoWII is my favorite action game on the PS2, hands down. DMC is a fun series, but beating GoWII just made me want MORE and I jumped right back in. Favorite action game overall... before I would have said Ninja Gaiden without a second thought, now it's between NG and GoW. DMC is good, but not on the same level with either of these imo.

I have to disagree with the rest.

Ohh the story was nothing amazing imo, but I liked the setting of the game, since I really can't think of any other game execpt Kid Icarus that used the same mythological setting.

In terms of action game's I played this generation on PS2? It might be my favorite *Looks at Zone of Enders* well it might be I don't know, but DMC definitely stands behind those two, tho I loved it.

Edited: Oh about the graphics argument, I do disagree with the art direction.

GoW is not-overrated.....for an action/adventure game there is nothing compare to it....DMC series and you could say that GoW is similar to it.....great story lines from mythological backgrounds combine with a great deal of blades/sword combos or guns....I think that GoW is great and people shouldn't complain about it
