Google CEO Sundar Pichai admits he's not a big gamer, but he's got big plans for gamers around the world. Today Google revealed its new game streaming platform, Stadia, with a stated goal to bring the best games to everyone in the world. "When we say for everyone, we really mean it. It's one of our most cherished values at the company," Pichai says.

Here's everything we know about the platform right now.

This needs to be ready to go within 6 months,as Ms are releasing a streaming service this year and sony maybe next

Dont piss about google,we dont want to here your planning on doing stuff...show us what you got or STFU HaH

Tencent partnered with intel for instant play which will be detailed on 20/03/2019 and apparently Amazon may be working on a similar service.

By the end of 2020 I'd say we will see 5+ major companies offering a similar service (MS, Google, Tencent, Sony, Amazon and Nvidia).

A streaming console?... Sorry the tech from what I have seen is not there yet, input lag and pixelated images is not what anyone wants to see on a 4K HDR TV. Dedicated hardware is here to stay its why intel is creating their own dedicated GPU as we speak.

I've played on services such as Parsec @1440p with no issues and no noticeable input lag. It's pretty much my go to method to play from work since my work laptop sucks. I'd assume the offerings from Microsoft, Google etc would be much better.

Interested to see if they are going streaming only, or if they have a somewhat capable box to get the ball rolling. Like 5 h until we know :).

If it's a normal console with physical media then I would welcome them to the market as more competition is typically good, but if it's streaming-only then I will never support it and will hope for it's failure.

I don't want to see video games ever go all streaming. F*** streaming!

Competition is good but I don't know how to feel about a streambox.

Those netbooks and laptops with no internal HDD weren't terribly exciting to me either.

If this is just going to be a streaming only system from Google then it’ll get a hard pass from me.

Looks like Sony has made two companies enter the console race: MS and now Google.

This new platform is certainly aimed at PS Now's target market.

This doesn't feel like a Xbox/PS competitor despite everything they did is. They have no games, they built a studio, but had nothing to show was a epic fail, you know, the big game that makes people use it in first place.

The logo, lack of product substance, etc. makes it just feel like another random Google service and less a big new thing. That probably doesn't make any sense, but as cool as it all sounds, feels like its gonna be another 2-3 years before fully established.

I just wonder who's gonna opt for Stadia purchases over Steam. Cause this isn't just some free service, you're gonna have to buy those games. At least with xCloud I could still play the games natively on PC.

I'm still skeptical despite liking everything they said. I think this lit a fire under industries ass to realize MS wasn't fucking around announcing xCloud and crazy how all the things MS been doing is leading up to this new future, while Sony has sort of remained in traditional stance, which might be best thing, everyone jumps, but if Sony doesn't make plunge, it could prove smart move.

I sure can't wait to play all these games they didn't announce on the service whose price they didn't disclose. This really could have waited until they had everything together. Plus the destructible world announcement was giving me horrible Crackdown 3 deja vu.

No, I think the controller is the only hardware. They spoke several times of "an instance of Stadia" and they said it was 10,7 Tflops. But that hardware is not something you can buy, it will be at Googles data centers.

Ugh. So it’s just a streaming service then. While admittedly it does allow for some pretty cool features to be implemented I still greatly prefer having the actual hardware playing games that I can purchase on a physical format and that’s just not something that I’m willing to give up on unless I absolutely have to.

56 CU AMD GPU at 10.7TFLOPS... Sorry not enough for 4K/60 with EVERY game, its a good thing they used Doom to show it off because that engine is smooth as butter to run add in the fact that this is dependant on your internet speeds its not looking good for most people.

I am going to assume the game will scale in resolution based on your connection.

Its marketed as a 4K/60 because that is what it can stream it doesn't mean the game will run at that resolution and or frame-rate. This is a console that will become pointless once the next generation comes along giving you the same performance or a little better but with less input delay and it won't require a 200Mb connection to achieve.

And as I expected Stadia is/will be better with 4k/60 + HDR + Surround Sound and support for multiple devices with no queues or wait or lag etc. It's even better than Nvidia's offering let alone PS Now's crappy 720p at best 30 high leg, limited devices and queues. I mean hey had a better quality service in the beta with 1080p/60 so definitely much better in the production. Also right that Google won't be enteing in the console business as the model Nintendo pioneered.

All the idiots with their deliberate attempts to falsely give credit for something it didn't do and still can't do in the quality state by shouting but but Sony did it using P2P connections in 500M BC hence they are better. LOL @ delusional cows. Also MS appears to be in a deep trouble as clearly Google is far ahead of them in this space having already done a public beta.

I'm surprised people are pessimistic about it. This is a potential revolution in gaming if their claims check out and there aren't any "fine print conditions". The reason why I believe in the tech is because they've so clearly invested a lot into this and if anyone has the resources to pull this off it's Google.

One instance of 10.7 Tflops is amazing, especially since the server farm can be upgraded without the need of a console cycle and you can use multiple instances.

This actually makes futuristic technologies like ray tracing a possibility much sooner than expected.

It works on any device and its social features are impeccable. In my eyes, this blows the Big 3's current gen offerings out of the water.

I agree. It has potential, we'll have to wait and see. I hope traditional consoles are still a thing, so we can have options. I don't wish google to end traditional gaming.

This has got to be very expensive for Google, to constantly have to maintain and update these servers every time. That has me wondering what the catch is. There's no way we just pay for the $60 game and that's it. Google will probably want a subscription plan.

Jade Raymond was recently hired and became President of Google's gaming division, and I believe at GDC today they mentioned there will be first party games from Google, with more info likely coming out at E3 (they said more info "Summer 2019"). Hard to believe we might have another major contender in System Wars with its own exclusives now!

Well, it makes sense. Google's Android OS logo is a small bot, and bots are incapable of thinking different and will worship Google as the end all, be all superior company.
