God Of War III 'only possible on PS3'

Sony claims gorgeous-looking title could not have been developed on any other system

Time to feel all warm inside, PS3 owners - Sony has claimed that the super-powerful system is the only console that could handle God Of War III.

The hugely anticipated game, which is due to hit shelves in March, is set to become one of the biggest titles of 2010.

Many tip it as a 'system seller' for Sony - and now the firm has told CVG that the game takes full advantage of PS3 hardware.

UK product manager for GoW III, Claire Backhouse, told CVG today:

"The developers have worked hard to use the power of the PS3 to make GOW3 look amazing and have added features that are only possible with PS3.

"The dynamic lighting solution employed in GOW III is only feasible through the computing power provided by the Cell SPUs.

"For example, using the High Dynamic Range Lighting (HDRL) technology, the camera - when using Krato's sightline - will emulate the human retina, causing players to feel a sharp brightness when Kratos exits a dark area and enters a sunlit area, similar to how the human eye would need to adjust."

PC isn't a console. Andwhat Sony said isprobably true, seeing as how MGS 4, Killzone 2, and Uncharted 2 are also only possible on the PS3. Only idiotic 360 fanboys would dispute this.

Do you guys actually read the article? He gives an example of a lighting solution which can only be used on the PS3, the only way to counter that argument is by posting a feature from another 360 game which uses the same lighting solution or similar. Yet the first two comments are entirely baseless, while the third is true but is beyond the point entirely.

Has system wars lost the ability to debate? For the record I'm not a ps3 fanboy as it's the only console I don't own funny enough.

God of War III only possible on PS3. Halo Reach only possible on Xbox 360. New Super Mario Brothers Wii only possible on Wii.

Do people still buy into this? God of War is developed for PS3 to look how it does. I'm pretty sure that it could exactly the same on the 360 IF IT WAS DEVELOPED DIFFERENTLY.

It's so funny how the lems always claim that the 360 can power graphics like that, yet they never give examples of games that compare to the likes of MGS 4, KZ2, Uncharted 2, or the upcoming Heavy Rain. You know why they can't? Because there is none! My belief is that the 360 maxed out at Gears of War 2. I could be wrong on that, but there is no way in HELL that a 360 could run a game as good looking as KZ2. I say again, only an idiotic 360 fanboy would dispute this.

I believe this statement to be true because its just like the Metal Gear Series, It will never be on the xbox because only the ps3 can handle it...

It must feel really good when a company pays you a load of money to make up bullcrap statements.

I will admit that Gears 2 has better textures than MGS 4, but MGS 4 beats Gears 2 in everything else.

I understand you are upset since PS3 is not as powerfull as it was supposed to be but dont need to be so agressive :D 360 and PS3 have similar power. 360 better GPU and PS3 better CPU and this is obvious when looking at overall lineups. PS3 has 2 better looking exclusives and 360 better looking multiplats. Theres not a "most powerfull system" like in previous gens ;)

Its as simple as that but PS3 owners are arrogant enough to think "All PS3 exclusives >>>>>>>>> everything else" :?

The PS3's textures were never very impressive. It's ability for incredible physics and lighting are what truely raise it above the 360 in terms of graphics.

Just to make things clear, I'm not against the 360. Almost all of my friends own one, and it does have games that I'm envious of (mainly the Left 4 Dead and Gears of War games). As I said, it obviously can't, otherwise it WOULD HAVE by now. What's keeping them from producing the same beautiful graphics if the 360 is capable of doing so? The question answers it's self. It simply isn't capable of doing so.
