if Bayonetta is so much better than GOW3, then why does God of war 3 have a higher metacritic score ?bayonetta is clearly the better game... unless you're talking about the embarrassingly gimped down ps3 version cows are stuck with

In terms of combat:
Dynasty Warriors 7 > God of War 3 > Bayonetta
I don't see how this is up for debate.

because combat = what decides which game is better.
face it. God Of War was never meant to be like DMC or Bayonetta in terms of combat. not because the devs are not capable of doing it, but because they are not going on that route.
'bu...bu..but it's hack-n-slash!' so what? do all hack-n-slash games have to have DMC's combat? NO. what about Soul Reaver, or Enslaved, or Heavenly Sword, or Onimusha all do not have these complex combo tree.
[QUOTE="charizard1605"]God of War 3 without a doubt. Although I still maintain that the original God of War was superior to any game that was since released in the series.mmmwksil
:o
Do you really mean that, Charizard? Better than part 2?
Indeed I do. I liked the second game a lot, but for its story and presentation and production values. It's gameplay just felt bland and more of the same-y to me, especially after how powerful and fresh the first game had felt. I'm sure you'll understand :P[QUOTE="Yangire"]

"so what?"
So what? It's like comparing racing games and saying the driving portion is just as important as the other aspects. :| It's the biggest portion just like combat is the biggest portion of a hack-n-slash game.

I felt the second game's combat was far smoother than the original's. More of the same, but done better! I won't comment on the laughable story (oops, let slip a comment), but it did look purdy ;)

Hack n slash games focus on combat, having bad combat in a hack n slash is like having poor gun control in a shooter. A hack n slash game can be good without great combat, but it certainly makes it worse.

Well in a hack and slash, I would imagine the hacking and slashing is fairly important. CALL ME CRAZY, but that just might be possible.Indeed I do. Really? I thought you of all people would understand my aversion to more of the same :( And I realize that the second game is more refined and in every empirical way a simply much better game than the original. However, I still maintain that my personal preference makes me like God of War 1 much more.Really? Doth speak the Pokemon fan
But cool all the same, GoW 1 is still a great game.
This is like comparing the performance of a Ford Model T to that of a brand new Porsche 911 Turbo S. And fortunately, God of War is the Ford. There is no amount of hyperbole strong enough to emphasize just how amazing Bayonetta is compared to other action games.

Except Pokemon's battle system is deep enough to withstand repeated, shall we say, rehashing. God of War's gameplay was too shallow to survive that, if you know what I mean.Metacritic disagrees with youThis is like comparing the performance of a Ford Model T to that of a brand new Porsche 911 Turbo S. I guess I'm not a real gamer thenbasically you are asking graphics or gameplay...substance or cinematics.
Any real gamer would say Bayonetta with no question.

Does it matter what metacritic says? People have opinions.
Metacritic disagrees with youEggHeadManA bunch of opinions. Wooo... God of War has Kratos killing gods. Bayonetta has Bayonetta killing GOD. Bayonetta >>> God of War

Oh yes, it's like when the Pokemon developer said he was saddened by the lack of variety in games this E3 :lol:Bayonetta, dawgz!
Fantastic and deep combat system, ridiculous boss fights and scenarios. The level design can be reminiscent of Super Mario Galaxy at times. The game is off the wall insane and I love it for that reason.
Granted I haven't played GoW3, but just hearing Kratos speak makes me cringe in revulsion anyway.
I prefer God Of War even thoguh I think Bayonetta has better combat. But Everything else from story, to set pieces, to boss battles goes to God of War. I think the silliness of Bayonetta gets in the way. A lot of Japanese games get in the way of themselves.
Granted I haven't played GoW3, but just hearing Kratos speak makes me cringe in revulsion anyway.NeonNinjaI watched most of the game on Youtube. It really isn't that great. Its premise is entirely ridiculous.

Yeah, I watched some on YouTube as well. Let's just say, even if I had a PS3, I wouldn't be buying GoW3. It looks unintentionally cheesy. I'll take Bayonetta's intentionally cheese sty1e anyday.
Bayonetta is the best action game of this gen and a strong candidate for best action game ever with DMC3 and NGB, nuff said.
Bayonetta easy.
Though to be fair I haven't even played God of War 3 so hell if I really know, but GoW3 looked pretty simplistic from what I saw and I hate the main character. A lot of it's draw seemed to be the cinematic feel and violence but I can pretty much just look at the fights online to get that.
God of War 3 relies too much on simplistic flashy gameplay than meaty balls to the wall hardcore gameplay mechanics. So bayonetta wins it for me.
GoW III is a game of ultra violence. Bayonetta is a more wimsical approach to an action game. I dislike the style of Bayonetta, and the whole thing with her clothes being hair makes me throw up a little in my mouth when I think of that, ick.
GoW III is the better looking game, and the gameplay is as deep as you want it to be. You can square, square, triangle your way through it on medium, but there's a lot to the combat if you play around. People often take their own lack of imagination for faults in a game, and this is one of those cases.
