Poll Get Xbox 360 Controller over Xbox One for PC? (65 votes)

Yes. No need to wait just get Xbox 360 controller for your PC. 69%
No, wait and get the Xbox One controller for your PC. 31%

After month's of waiting, I am finally looking to get another gaming controller for my PC. Only issue is that M$ hasn't released an "official" version of the X One controller for PC.

I have tried the X One controller at Best Buy and I can't really say that I like it over the X 360 controller. Sure the controller looks better than the X 360 controller but we all know looks isn't everything. Even with my limited time using the X One controller it seems to me the X 360 controller feels more comfortable as the joysticks are bigger. The battery behind the X 360 controller didn't really bother me. The only thing that is better it seems to me is the D-pad, which I don't really use much. After month's of waiting and after buying MK Komplete Edition for the PC (which looks gorgeous at 1080P btw) I am getting tired of M$ waiting to release an "official" version for the PC. I want to play 1 vs 1 with my buddies on fighting and other games. I don't want to run into compatibility issues for the PC as X 360 controller nearly works in all PC games.

So, what do you guys think, should I wait longer and give M$ more time to release an "official" version for the PC and give X One controller another try?

yes. x360 is the best controller ever made full stop. the new x1 controller has smaller sticks that are also a lot looser, they feel like dualshock 3 sticks which the lems seemed to hate but now love. the bumper buttons are also shit and pc games wont be taking advantage of the rumble trigger anyway. x360 wired controller all the way

The Xbox One is easily the superior controller, it has better analogs, dpad and better triggers

I am also worried about the compatibility of the Xbox One controller with the PC. As there aren't "official" version of wireless adapter that you need. For those who don't know the Xbox 360 wireless controller came with a wireless receiver for the PC that you hooked it up to your PC in order to have your PC communicate with the controller.

I mean is there even a official "wireless receiver" for Xbox One for the PC?

The Xbox 360 is cheaper and overall the best controller you can get for the PC. It has the best support over all controllers on the market.

I'd say only get an Xbox One controller to just mess with your friends into thinking you're playing an Xbox One game without an Xbox One.

More PC games are going to support the X1 controller and it's dual pulse triggers.

how many Xbone games support it? Last I checked, COD didn't and neither did Titanfall.

Good question. I have Radeon 6970 hooked up via HDMI to my 60" Samsung Plasma. So I sit on the sofa and play my games at 1080P. :P That's why I need a wireless controller. Wired computer won't do as it's too far from my Gaming PC. Besides I don't like being tied down. :P

but ms is putting a greater emphasis on pc gaming this time around so they probably forget to add it on their console but on pc all games will support rumble triggers. phil spencer said so!!

The bumpers are shit.

That's my major complaint, it also seems a lil bit uncomfortable for big hands.

The triggers are perfection, no cheap material used like DS4's squeaky triggers.

Well, I'd wait, both Sony's DS4 controllers and MS's X1 controllers are made from the same cheap ass Chinese manufacturers that cut corners on the design of the analogs which will have a tendency to break down earlier due to certain protective and durability features being removed.

Until that's fixed I'd just stick to the Xbox 360 controller. Other than that, the X1 seems like a fine controller, I don't get the hate it gets for the bumpers but whatever, I tried it and thought they were fine. Question for me though, can PC games make use of trigger rumble? If not I'd see no need to upgrade from the Xbox 360 controller at a future date, unless you like the feel of it better.

I have used both on PC and I like the Xbox One controller more.

I find it strange that people say the XB1 controllers sticks are loose. Even as loose as the PS3? That's crazy talk. I'm holding the PS3, PS4 , 360 and Xbox One controllers as we speak and the XB1 sticks are not nearly as loose as the PS3 or even PS4'S sticks.

consensus is definitely Xbone sticks are looser than ps4's. Also, they seem to have some iffy deadzone problems.

no way are ps4 stick more loose than x1. ps4 sticks in terms of resistance feel very similar to x360 but the x1 sticks just feel very loose to me like they were just oiled up or something

I'd get the X1 controller because its worth 100M to design so it must be better. But seriously i'd get DS4 and download a tool called DS4Tool. Been using that since i got my ps4 last year and its perfect.

Thanks for your insight. :) That is one of my MAJOR concerns. It would suck to buy an new controller and not working because wireless adapter is not compatible with the new X One controller.

agree on this so much that i use 'bumper jumper' (aim and fire with L1/R1 instead of L2/R2) in every shooter on ps4. Waiting for a 3rd party to release a great controller for ps4 but its taking years for some reason

360 controller sounds like a good choice... its a better controller, and has wireless support. With the x1 controller you would have to have it connected via the micro usb cable.

I have both plugged into my computer, right next to each other.

If you really need a wireless controller, then you have no choice but the Xbox 360 controller.

If you can used wired, then it's a toss up. I prefer the Xbox One controller due to it's lighter build but I only prefer it slightly. The Xbox One controller works with the same drivers (abit maybe a little different) as the Xbox 360 controller, so almost every game that supports 360 controller support the One controller.

Well they have one for the Xbox 360, it has it's own packaging, with the Windows logo and the receiver. Concern with using any other no name brands from China for the wireless adapter for the Xbox One is that it wouldn't work. Where as if get a Xbox 360 wireless controller plus a wireless receiver even separately it would work because they are M$ devices.

Some people seemed to have a lot of bumper issues with the Xbox One controller especially the Day One controller.

I feel bad for them. Standing in line and paying $500 for a new console only to have your one controller not working thus not being able to play games not to mention waiting weeks to get a replacement.

I left my 360 for my computer at my uncles, so I was using my X1 controller. Its pretty spot on, just the bumpers are not as good, but the D pad is better. I say get a 360 one because you can probably get one cheaper.

Thanks to all the consolers and the PC guys. Brought the wireless Xbox 360 controller for PC. I tried out the Xbox One controller again at Best Buy and didn't like the sticks, X360 controller just seems for comfortable. Already tried 1 vs 1 playing MK Komplete Edition, it's pretty sweet. And someone from the PC forums states that there isn't a compatible wireless receiver for the PC yet, other receivers may not work. Anyways, I don't think M$ is in too of a rush to bring the Xbox One ctroller to the PC, as their are busy with their Xbox One launches and what not, so there is really no point in waiting. Seriously, M$ spent $100 million on this? Crazy! Maybe that should have gone into making a more powerful GPU for Xbox One.:P

And yes, there are some head-scratching things MS has made with respect to the One, but waaaaaaayy more when it comes to PC gaming.

360 controller. It's easier to get a licensed controller from Best Buy that's somewhat comparable, and the faults are harder to notice on said licensed controllers as there are few games that absolutely require a controller (i.e: Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Rising, Dynasty Warriors)

I got a wired 360 controller. It works wonderfully with my PC gaming. Its widely recognized by my PC games and its extremely comfortable and its plug and play. But if you're going to play a fighting game I'd recommend a fight stick.
