Besides our economy is in a double dip recession and partially the problem is how Germany is handling the Eurozone bailouts and were footing a mighty big portion of the bill despite not being part of the Euro:evil: while cutting back on core services for our own country.

I wouldnt trust VGchartz, and yeah germany the country that has done very well out of the euro is now backpedalling because it doesnt want to underwrite alot of the debt it has been racking up with club med countries over the last 15 years or so, dont even get me started on "THE CUTS" which have this odd habit of benefitting the rich whilst simoultaneously giving the working classes less and making them pay more.

It's always been the case, it just wasn't properly tracked due to PC digital distribution.
At the same time a lot of Germans i know and played with used to get their games from the UK due to the harsh anti violence censorship in comparrison to the rest of the EU.
IS that been dying or is that still going, cause it could be a potential factor in why the sales have risen.

It's still surprising considering PC gaming is much more popular among krauts than console gaming is and their network is very advanced compared to the rest of Europe (meaning that almost all PC gamers can manage with DD alone to buy their games).
There is absolutely no correlation between population and numbers of gamers.

It's right in front of you, UK was bigger than Germany and now Germany is bigger than UK. The change in population over time is negligible, thus market penetration in a country depends on other factors.
VGChartz said the 3DS sold 1.2 million in the UK but ChartTrack said the 3DS passed the 1 million mark last week. The 200,000 difference is huge in a market where the 3DS only sells about 30k~40k a month.
Well if Germany has a larger population, then there's more possibility to have a larger gaming community..
Also in the boards there was always the misconception that EUROPE = UK or else USA = World....
For gaming UK is a strong area/market but its just part of market, summing up the population of all other european countries one can realise that Europe is a huge Market with a very large gaming community.. its just dfficult to keep proper track of sales/numbers..

That's misleading. For South Korea it includes things like arcades and MMOs but for Japan it only includes console games and hardware sold as new. There obviously is a correlation between country's economy/population and market size.

There is no known correlation, at least to my knowledge. Otherwise we could've derived weekly sales from every region with only the MC numbers. Since it hasn't been done yet, I assume there is no correlation or at least no satisfying one.

fair enough, i agree to some extent. but as someone else already said, the higher the population, the greater the chance of there being more gamers. its not provable / disprovable.

There's a positive correlation of about ~0.27. That is also obvious from just looking at the data. Clearly there are more smaller countries close to the bottom. Where can I pick up the price?
