Gears 3 vs Uncharted 3- Which will be better?

The two franchises have often been pitted against each other. They're bpth premier franchises of the system they're on, they're both third person shooters, they're both of really high quality, both push technical capabilities of their respective systems further.

Gears of War 3 and Uncharted 3 both lok REALLY good. Question is, which one of them will be better according to you?

I'm looking forward to Gears more, I actually like the characters and the plot, it's heading for a conclusion unlike Uncharted's which isn't going anywhere.

Uncharted 3 is looking better to me, but how exactly can we judge which will be better without playing both? Many have already played the Gears 3 beta, but nobody can play the Uncharted 3 beta until tuesday.

Gears 3 by a large margin, i think i would give it that for the monsters alone

SP UC 3 > GeOW 3
MP GeOW 3 > UC 3

both will be great but I geuss gears of war will offer better gameplay.but graphically I geuss uncharted will come up with better lighting and effects.I love gears more personally8).

The Gears formula hasn't aged very well, so Uncharted 3 easily. I don't really care for either one of these, though. Vanquish 2 needs to come out...

as far as the single player goes, Uncharted 3 will definitely be better. multiplayer wise it could go both ways.

from what I saw in E3 UC gameplay was not any different from UC2.but since we just saw a short gameplay movie I geuss it's just too soon too judge.

Never been interested in Gears, so I'll go with Uncharted 3. I wouldn't be surprised if it got a 10.

Again you can go by a sequals score to prove a score of the new game. Take a look at Infamous 1 and then at Infamous 2 on Gamespot. AAA to A. Another example: Bioshock 1 to Bioshock 2. AAA to AA.

Anything can happpen and no score is confirmed until the game is actually reviewed.

Gears 3, the multiplayer will be better, the shooting mechanics are more fun due to the weapon variety

Uncharted's good, but i dislike the story, and dont fall for it's platforming/puzzle pretences. It's just a TPS.

Naughty Dog is using a new engine I believe. We haven't seen it in action that much though,amari24

they probably just updated their existing engine, like what they did from drakes fortune to UC2.

From the single player footage I've seen, the only improvements over UC2 are better character models and MLAA in the place of 2xMSAA. Even if it looked the same as UC2 though it would still look fantastic :D

It never was a bad score, but recent fantastic games seem to be getting 7.5-8.5's. It's like reviewers decided to just hike up their standards for no particular reason, lol.

Tough call. I'm pretty certain both will be excellent. I say Gears 3, but that is just because I prefer the series.

I have enjoyed the gears series more so I would like to say it's a logical conclusion to say that things will just go over again the same but gears looks like it will have lots of changes and uncharted doesn't and I don't know how the reaction will be to that.

Uncharted 3 will have better SP, that's a given, and it seems like the multi will be better too.

I prefer the scenery of Uncharted. Art counts a lot in my book, so I'm going to go with Uncharted.

I have to go with Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception.

Based on the E3 showings I believe Uncharted 3 will topple Gears yet again.

Somebody else said that Gears hasn't aged well and I agree. When I first tried Gears Of War I thought it was incredible. But playing both of them now they just seem... meh. Once I tried Uncharted, there was no going back. There is no variety at all in Gears. It's just like Killzone 2... shoot... shoot... cover... shoot... cover... shoot... turret section, rinse repeat for the whole game. The enviroment is also like Killzone 2, just the same crap over and over.

Gears 3 will fix the problems with enviroment variety though... hopefully. But other than the new colors introduced to the game and the new horde mode, not much to get excited about.

So in my personal opinion Uncharted 3 will be the better game. But I am a big single player gamer, and Gears has always failed in that department for me. I do play online sometimes but neither Uncharted or Gears will hold my attention in the multiplayer department considering Battlefield dropkicks every online game out there.

In concept, I should enjoy Gears. But when I play it, it just doesn't feel right. The movement is clunky as hell, the shooting is incredibly unsatisfying, level design is beyond poor, the story is basically non-existant, it looks like a literal ****-storm swept over the planet, the characters are the definition of generic, I don't think any part of either game looks good, the voice acting is embarrassing as are the sound effects, the multiplayer is glitchy, people online are as immature as the average Call of Duty player(not really a problem with the game per se, more the people who play it). The best thing I have to say about the game is that the cover system works well, most of the time.

Both will be great, but I will spend a lot more time playing Gears 3.

Both will be equally fantastic! Uncharted 3 for it´s amazing shooting/platforming pacing and Gears 3 for it´s awesome shooting mechanics and coop aspects. I voted Gears 3 because it´s currently one of my most antecipated games.

And imo Uncharted 2's multiplayer is highly underrated, it is my favorite multiplayer and it deserves more credit than it gets

Remember Gears of War 2's multiplayer was nothing special, I played the Gears 3 beta and it was much better than 2

Both will be great and day 1 but I know im going to get more out of Gears multi is all ready wicked from the beta impression I'll constantly be playing co-op campaign with 2 - 4 other people, as well as horde and beast mode.

But I haven't had my hands on Uncharted3 yet (2 days to go), but I do love me some gears.
