10 PC Real Time Strategy Games You Should Play Before You Die
Check out the article, looks pretty great. I'm surprised it doesn't include Rise of Nations, Empire Earth and Age of Mythology, though. But still, the list is decent enough.

lmao pc? seriously? why would anyone game on a computer lmao fail xDmrladykillabecause some gamers like to have freedom and not be in the behinds of a corporate deity is one reason.
What happens if I die before playing them all?dzimm
Game over, and you have to restart from the beginning.
Remember how much the tutorial to life sucked?
No, you don't, because it was THAT bad.
So you'd better get right on playing those games :P
Some of those games aren't necessarily Real Time Strategy. World in Conflict is a RTT (Tactical) and Rome: Total War is a TBS/RTT. And there's no Homeworld. Oh well.drinkerofjuice
They are all RTS lumped under the RTS genre. RTT is a sub-genre of RTS of which I don't agree it's even a sub-genre but people like to be specific.
No Homeworld is a major problem. It's by far one of the best, if not the best strategy game of all time.

List should have ben called 10 PC strategy games, not RTS games. The dude that made the list is poorly informed with these games, neither SimCity or Total War are real time strategy games, man what a poor journalist. SimCity is a city-building game, which is a sub-genre of the strategy genre, and Total War is a turn-based/real-time tactical hybrid.
It's like calling Diablo (which is a action - RPG) a DnD CRPG. (two different sub-genres from the RPG genre)

yeah, what the hell was simcity doing there? rise of nations should have taken its place. and age of mythology, those are some damn fine games
:lol:Please make your own list. :) I'd be happy to see if I like it or not.[QUOTE="TailBlood"]

List sucks because there is no homeworld.
Wasdie
List was good, but replace Company of Heroes with Homeworld.
I would have replaced Starcraft 2 with homeworld. It's a good list... lists will never please people, but it's well done, if a bit non-researched. I believe he should have just left one per franchise though. And taken out a couple of strategy games that aren't rts's. Hence the lack of homeworld.Edit: Finshed the list. Take those words back.

Yeah, Rise of Nations is basically perfection. And like another user said, were the hell is Homeworld, one of the best RTS games ever created upon this world?
Incredibly poor article, its like he didn't even try, and i ain't speaking about he's preferance but about confusing a damn city builder with RTS. He could have at least looked on wikipedia, for God's sake. Man what a poorly informed journalist.

Exactly. No Rise of Nations? No Age of Mythology? And SimCity, which isn't even an RTS? :?Only 2 from that list i haven't played, Warhammer and Red Alert 2 (played C&C 4 and it was really bad), anyway, great list, i don't think anyone can come up with better RTS games.

Rise of Nations is arguably the most perfect RTS game ever created. It's totally a must play. If you're an RTS fan who hasn't played Rise of Nations, then you're just doing it wrong.[QUOTE="Renegade_Fury"]
Age of Mythology is the most underrated RTS ever...
quaappybla
Completely agree with this.
Me too. Best RTS game ever, IMO.What? No love for total annihilation?alexside1I couldn't remember the name of that's the game I was thinking that was missing. And what about Dune 2 that basically created the genre? But again...
It made this Blizzbot happen that 3 Blizzard games where on the list. Just a popularity contest like most lists are.Well, I'm surprised. For once it's not a list that deserves to be thrown out of the window.

Actually I found RoN's campaign to be inferior to AoM's, although its skirmish mode is still one of the best in the genre if you can put enough time into it.

You mad?
Meh, I don't play RTS games so I don't think I am... ... but then again why do I care about a list for a genre I don't play in? o.O[QUOTE="khoofia_pika"][QUOTE="quaappybla"]Me too. I would say AoM > than AoE2, but equal to RoN. Not sure if i would put it as top ten, but i liked Battle for Middle Earth 2.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I disagree, and especially about Rise of Nations. AOM had the perfect balance between economy and battle, which I haven't seen in a RTS since.
